From animated-movies.com:

Funnyman Buddy Hackett, who among many other things starred in Disney's The Little Mermaid as the voice of Scuttle, has died at age 78. 'Jed' reminds us that Buddy also provided voices for other animation studios: "for example, in 1979 he was the voice of narrating spokesmorph [Pardon-Me-Pete] in the Rankin-Bass holiday special Jack Frost. Buddy even got to perform 'Me and My Shadow' in this 48-minute-long stop-motion animated TV special. And he briefly worked for Film Roman [in 1992], narrating the [Airborn Odie] story on an episode of Garfield & Friends." His last project was the 2000 direct-to-video sequel The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea.
This is sad....I always thought he did a great job as Scuttle.

His live acts were pretty good too.

That's sad news. I thought that his Scuttle was one of the best voices in "The Little Mermaid". Then again, things like this are unavoidable, so I won't say anymore about it.
