Another DC Comics classic seems to be heading to the big screen. <a href="http://www.lastcomicsite.com/index.php3">The Last Comic Site</a> reports that X-Men screenwriter David Hayter will be writing an all-new screenplay for Alan Moore's classic Watchmen comic book series.
The site says that when Hayter adapts the 12-issue Watchmen story into a two-hour screenplay, some of the material in Moore's comic will have to be axed to make it work. One of the first segments Hayter is removing is the "Tales of the Black Freighter", the pirate story comic book told throughout the Watchmen comic arc.
Director Terry Gilliam, who had previously attempted to make the film, is not involved with this latest incarnation of the Watchmen, adds the site. Expect an official announcement very soon on this project.
