View Full Version : The Strip is a Hit.

The Worst Animated Show In Ten Years got 1.4 million total viewers.

Stripperella got 2 million, the best of the block. (Oh, the irony.)

BUT 1.4 MILLION PEOPLE WATCHED THAT... THING AT 10PM.

America... I weep for thee.

The Strip...a hit? Say it isn't so!

This once again proves that TNN's audience is composed of complete idiots. Even though I thought "Gary the Rat" was mildly entertaining (if only for Kelsey Grammar's acting), Adult Swim deserves more attention than The Strip.

Gary the Rat was so boring. I am surprised it got good ratings. Stripperella was just stupid, and it got 2 million viewers. I'm in the minority here, but I thought R&S wasn't bad. Man's Best Friend airs next week, and I can't wait for that.

I guess it's true that people love to watch train wrecks.

I'm not going to say anything until I see the performance of The Strip over the next couple of weeks. People tune in to see what it's about and if it's horrible they'll quit watching. I remember ABC (or was it NBC? CBS?) said that the godawful sitcom "Baby Bob" was the new hit of the season immediately after the pilot aired. The show was cancelled three weeks later.

This was just first week tuning in. APC and Gary the Rat will have huge fall offs next week, not sure about Striperella.

Yeah, I'd definetly wait until week 3 or 4 to make a solid judgement.

I figured that R&S would get lots of viewers since everyone wanted to see new R&S...since it was the complete opposite of what everyone expected, perhaps its viewers will drop off.

Let's see how this week performs in the ratings before we pass any final judgements.

The XFL also did great its first week, if I remember...

Give it time.

And also, if you watched it once for the crap factor (like me), stop watching it.

The XFL also did great its first week, if I remember...10.5 million viewers watched the first game on NBC.

I figured Stripperella would be a hit. I mean come on most if not all of TNN veiwers are horny males. As for the other two only time will tell. This just goes to show why the image of the slutty girl works so well. But then again the veiwers of TNN most likely wouldn't have been able to understand if it had a complex storyline. I wouldn't be to suprised if it got renewed because it was getting so many ratings. But only time will tell. ( I'm not saying Stripperella is a bad show just not my style)

I'm almost sure this number will be cut in half following this week's shows.

But aren't you one of the people who watched it also? Heh, I just thought it was kinda funny how people are saying the 2 million viewers are idiots, when most of US tuned in too. :0P Unlike us though, I think the common viewer didn't bother checking to see what kind of material they were in for, so if anything, WE'RE the idiots for watching, even though we knew beforehand what to expect.

Just wait a few weeks and those million will turn to hundreds of thousands and decrease during the passing weeks, just wait.

I kind of figured it get a ratings increase for TNN. The first time AS aired, it tripled the average amount of adult ratings that would normally appear at that time. However, AS has substance of great quality to keep viewers watching, while the Strip is more of fluff and style to cover up the bad to medicore to the good but cancelled stuff that airs there (you know what shows go in which spots).

Actually it was five weeks later, and it wasn't cancelled. In fact it recently aired episodes a week ago, so it's still on the air (unfourtanley).

Actually, "Baby Bob" was cancelled last year. CBS is merely finishing burning off the remaining episodes they had already filmed.

Oh there's a God and this ain't his work that's for sure. TNN just thinks they can air anything they want. It's the Fox mentality...

Well, I don't believe it.

I thought the new R&S episode was okay but the rest was crappy. Stripperella sucked and Gary the Rat made me snooze (infact, I actually did a complete channel surf for the last 10 or 15 minutes of it)

Gary the Rat was so boring that I stopped watching it after a while. I did not like Stripperella either. I am one of the few who thought the new R&S was okay.

Oh, sorry about the bum information. But showing the last episodes at least shows they care enough about the series to air all the episodes of it... or they need filler for the summer or something, but who really cares?

Very good point. I just think you're an "idiot" if you actually liked the entire block.

Which is what's happening to Stripperella. Even though it's the cancelled one, I actually liked it better than the other two choices of R&S and Gary the Rat (it bored me - but I can see where potential lies).

Since they like to produce crap, maybe TNN will pickup and make an animated "adult version" of Baby Bob.

i'm sure lots of viewers will turn away after a few weeks (Bird of Prey for example)

i'm still gonna check it out for a few more weeks before i decide whether or not it's worth continued viewing. Having classic Ren & Stimpy doesn't hurt. I'm a Kelsey Grammer fan so I'll watch 'Gary the Rat'. And for what it's worth, Stripperella wasn't as horrible as publicized. It's a funny spoof of the superhero/spy genre. It's better than Kim Possible. If you enjoyed The Tick then Stripperella should make you chuckle. How many eps did they wrap up? Stripperella will definitely hit dvds shelves in a few months.

quit comparing Adult Swim to The Strip. TNN does not pose any threat to CN's AS. There's room for more adult animation...on FOX, CN, TNN, MTV, HBO, Comedy Central, SciFi, USA, etc... Hell I wish TNN acquired Duckman. For some reason there's something amiss on the CC broadcasts.

Just because it does decently right off... doesnt mean it will have a lasting popularity.

Think of it as a train wreck: Dont wanna stare... but you just can't look away.

lol. If it holds high numbers for a while, then I will be impressed.

On a side note... I thought it was funny how they now use their lack of a name in commercials "When we know what to call it... we'll tell you,"

The Strip is a hit, while AS struggles?!

How the HELL can we convince people America isn't a country full of idiots, when The Strip is a hit?!

Please let this thing tank, and soon!

Actually, I thought "Gary the Rat" was the only thing entertaining in the entire block (I ended up dozing off during "Stripperella"..it bored me). I didn't find it boring at all and I like the idea of the "rat race" producing an actual rat, and Gary's courtroom tactics. I like it almost better than Birdman, really. (So far anyway) I don't like the crazy exterminator and his cat though....they annoy me.

I watched the Strip, the WHOLE thing, I really made an effort to judge it fairly. Despite my non-biased attitude, I hated it.

I watched the whole thing, so, I am one of those idiots who helped make it achieve such high ratings!

I will not tune in next week, save 5 minuets for Gary the rat.
If it makes me laugh in the first 5 minuets I might just watch the whole episode, the ren and stimpy honestly made me want to puke.

Hoping that tomorrow will not equal continued success? :shame:

we need some numbers here....

Ren and Stimpy - 1.7/3
Gary the Rat - 1.8/3
Stripperella - 2.4/5

Stripperella probably had the "big name" advantage too. i mean, STAN LEE'S Stripperella starring PAMELA ANDERSON. you just can't hate Stan Lee.
