Has anyone seen this movie? Well, I recently saw on Showtime on Demand and Showtime 2 West. Anyway, this film is very funny as it stars John Candy and Steve Martin as Martin's character (Neil) goes through hell, literally, to try to get home for Thanksgiving dinner. It's funny what happens, but I am confused why it is rated R? Language perhaps?

It's R for language. Steve Martin goes on a profanity-riddled rant at the car rental counter, and there are a few more expletives here and there I'm sure.

I remember seeing it once. I thought it was a pretty good movie, and had this really memorable quote about how you should tell a story (about using the characters right and such) but I kinda forgot it know. I need to remember to catch another showing of that movie sometime.

Yep this movie is just pure comedic gold. You dont see classics like this come out anymore. I always crack up at the part where the cop pulls them over after the car has been on fire. "Oddly enough the radio still works"

It's one of my father's favorite movies, and they air it on TV a LOT around Thanksgiving, so we do usually end up watching it - part of it, at least.
They comedic timing is brilliant. The scene when they're driving backwards on the highway is golden.

My roommates and I have tickets to see this at the Arclight next week. I've never seen it on the big screen before. I'm VERY excited.

Man I miss John Candy, especially when I see one of his better movies. But I haven't seen this movie in years, I'll have to get on that.

Haven't seen this movie in a long time, but I remember it being hilarious. The car rental counter scene is hysterical, especially being that it's Steve Martin. I once read that scene was quite a surprise for fans, because he was never really known for using that kind of language on-screen before. :D

Next to Ferris Bueller, this is John Hughes best movie. I think it's mostly cause it stands out. It's the only adult movie he's made.

Holy crap, I didn't think this thread was still alive!
Anyways, this movie was on Comedy Central twice this past week, and saw all of it. Loved this movie still, and the humor's even better at 20!
