Eh, the other thread just mentions it...this thread is directly about it. For the lazy people:
Cartoon Network (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/) today announced that they have officially ordered 13 episodes of The Venture Brothers, a comedy series created by Jackson Publick. The new series will premiere in March 2004 during the network's popular adult programming block, Adult Swim (http://www.adultswim.com/). The original pilot episode of the series, which aired previously in February, will air on Sunday, July 27, at 11 p.m. (e/p).
From New York-based studio Noodlesoup Productions, The Venture Brothers follows the adventures of two dimwitted brothers, their scientist father and his bodyguard Brock. It’s a dangerous world out there – full of zombie mummies, crazed alligators, street toughs and peculiar supervillains with a score to settle. Hank and Dean Venture regularly find themselves in danger, even if they are oblivious to it.
Hank, Dean and Dr. Venture live on a spacious ranch with a high-tech laboratory, but their adventures take them to exotic locales around the world, from the deepest, darkest rainforests to the most dangerous urban jungles. When the boys get into a sticky situation, they rely on the muscled, mullet-headed bodyguard Brock to bail them out. With a huge knife, a steely glint in his eye and a taste for blood, Brock is the guy that you want on your side when it’s time to defile your enemy. Dr. Venture, the son of a world-famous scientist, has a knack for inventing things no one really needs. All the same, he travels around the world on the Venture Jet, with the boys and Brock in tow.
“The Venture Brothers is a wickedly funny show that will fit nicely into our Sunday night Adult Swim lineup, where we showcase our original comedies,” said Mike Lazzo, Cartoon Network senior vice president, responsible for Adult Swim. “It draws from classics like The Hardy Boys, the ‘60s Batman live-action series and, of course, Jonny Quest, but with a modern, wry sensibility.” No comments from me yet...I missed it the first time around. I'll catch it July 27th.

I've known this for a while now, yet I'm still very happy about it. More original series that are actually funny is always a good thing. :anime:

Ironically, the Venture Brothers Review was my first post here. Anyway, happy about the news about the series. If it's anything like the pilot, it should at least be good, if not outstanding.

Sorry...I just looked at the titles...
That picture of that baby both scares and disturbs me. That's a choking hazard right there...Where are his parents? Tsk....tsk..
Oh and Venture Brothers....I am looking forward to this series. I missed the original pilot (I fell asleep a bit early that evening), so I am looking forward to seeing it rebroadcast in July.

This is exciting news, however, I find Eltingville Club to be much more entertaining. It's a pity it hasn't been ordered.

About time they make a new comedy series rather then buying a failed one! And from what the pilot showed this is gonna be a good series! http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

Venture Brothers was one of the few memorable Adult Swim specials. (The others being Saddle Rash, Eltingvile Club, and Rejected, although Rejected never technically aired) I'm glad it's being made into a series, although this is hardly news.

That's not necessarily a fair statement. Family Guy and Futurama were extremely successful on Fox, but Fox chose to cancel those two shows for unrelated reasons. And just because a show is canceled on a network doesn't mean that should be a factor in it's quality.

The creator...whose name escapes me at the moment...decided he didn't want to continue the Eltingville Club's adventures. Here's the thread about it: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=57100&highlight=eltingville
