While we still wait for domestic DVD releases of the new Godzilla features, the Sci Fi Channel has announced that it will debut Shusuke Kaneko’s spectacular GODZILLA—MOTHRA—KING GHIDORAH (pictured; a.k.a. GODZILLA: GMK) and Masaaki Tezuka’s GODZILLA VS. MEGAGUIRUS on Sunday, August 31. Air times are 5 p.m. for GMK and 3 p.m. for MEGAGUIRUS; they’re preceded by showings of the three REBIRTH OF MOTHRA films starting at 9 a.m. Sci Fi also debuts DEEP SHOCK, yet another nature-amok opus (David Keith and an oil-drilling team vs. a giant eel in the Arctic), on Saturday, August 9. As for the network’s premiere of BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR, it has (obviously) been delayed from a June airing to sometime in October.

I'll have to watch these just to see how bad the dubs are. I'm afraid though, very afraid. Oh well, at least people can now see how great GMK is (or hate it to death).

Thats good news. Speaking of DVD's I can't understand why they don't include the orignal japanese ver with subs.

Actually that is Toho's call. I know AnchorBay wants to release Godzilla 1985 on dvd, which they planned to do so this yr, but Toho refuses to give them permission to include the subbed track, so AB said they won't release it on dvd until Toho gives in. Toho has said they don't want the cheaper R1s ruining the price of their R2 releases.

Awesome. More Godzilla action makes a happier Randomguy. It probably has something to do with those lost brain cells...

While we're talking Toho and Godzilla for a moment, do you think someone could light a fire under 'em and get them to release the ORIGINAL uncut "Godzilla, King of the Monsters" on DVD in America?

By uncut, I mean all cut scenes restored (about 20 mins., or so I hear), no Raymond Burr, and no U.S. actors with their backs turned to the camera to match the Japanese footage. The only reason I'd watch the "drubbed" version right now is to hear the BG music by Akira Ifukube.

Maybe someone can light a fire under SCI-FI and get them to show that particular version.
