Imagine you were in charge of making a Green Lantern movie for WB. Which Green Lantern would you use?
-Hal Jordan
-Guy Gardener
-John Stewart
or Kyle Raynor
I would use Hal Jordan. He was the original(silver age that is) and if successful. You could always bring in Kyle Raynor when the actor playing Hal gets too old.

I don't follow the GL comics but I'll say Hal Jordan since he was the first. :)

Ive never liked Hal Jordan but if done right I think he would work as the main character for a movie.

I think either Hal or Kyle would make for an excellent movie. A slightly older but still young-looking actor for Hal (I still maintain that Brendan Fraser would make a perfect Hal Jordan) or if Warner wanted to go for a younger audience, cast a 20-something idol as Kyle Rayner. But let's wait until they can get their flagship heroes back into movies first before worrying about movies for Green Lantern :p

I'd use Hal. Pilot turned superhero is a cool concept. They'd just need to work on giving him a personality. :p

I'd use Hal (and also throw in John as a cast member, probably replacing the unfortunately-named "Pieface" as a fellow coworker of Hal's at Ferris Aircraft). I still think Kyle bites. :-)

Howdy,
Hal Jordan or John Stewart. Hal's got more history behind him, but I don't see why you couldn't do Hal's story with John's face. Yes, this is an "affirmative action" thing, but I gotta ask why the white guys have to have all the fun.

I'd use Hal, and maybe thrown in cameos by Guy and John

Why is it that whenever you all do Green Lantern polls, noone ever mentions
G'NORT!!!

If I was making a GREEN LANTERN movie, I'd have Dennis Quaid as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern and Hugo Weaving as Sinestro. Here's a GREEN LANTERN fanscript that does give Hal a character, and even deals with his alchohol problem. It's worth a read if you're a big Green Lantern fan.

I'd use Jordan first, then after the whole trying to destroy the world thing he had going on, (that was Hal, right.) I'd bring in Rayner or Stewart.

I'd make GREEN LANTERN into an 'as easy as it could be followed' trilogy.
*SPOILERS BELOW*
The first movie, GREEN LANTERN, would have Dennis Quaid as Hal Jordan and pretty much retell Emerald Dawn and Emerald Dawn II, going through his alcohol problems to becoming Green Lantern, to being trained by Sinestro, and then Sinestro being exposed as the renegade who was using his ring for personal gain, power, and dictatorship of sector 1417 and the Guardians banishing him to the anti-matter universe of Qward. At the end of the movie, would be a teaser that the Zamerons had taken control of Carol Ferris's (Courtney Cox) mind.
The second movie, GREEN LANTERN II: EMERALD DAWN, would start off with Sinestro making it back to Earth with his gift from the Qwardians', his yellow ring and Green Lantern and Sinestro battle. Later, it's revealed that Carol Ferris has become Star Sapphire. Sinestro corrupts her mind and teams up with Carol to battle Hal. Knowing that it's the doom of their Green Lantern, they call on two trainee Green Lanterns, Guy Gardner (Stephen Baldwin) and John Stewart (Denzel Washington) to assist Hal and together they defeat Sapphire and Sinestro. Guy comes off as brash and Hal and Guy begin to clash. John is more of a free thinker and questions authority. At the end, the question is still lingering as to who should be Green Lantern of Earth.
The third movie, GREEN LANTERN III: EMERALD REDEMPTION, would begin with the news headline of the sun being out due to the Sun-Eater. The maniacal Sinestro destroys Coast City, sending Hal Jordan mad. He destroys Sinestro, murdering him brutally. He attempts to recreate Coast City, which goes against the Guardians' most sacred canon of using the power for personal gain. They demand Hal relinquish his power. Hal not only refuses, he goes to Oa to gain more power, from the Central Power Battery (in the first movie, he had went inside the power battery, which had given him the power to defeat Legion, while the rest of the Corps couldn't). Going on a rampage, knocking out, sometimes killing every GL in his way, he makes it to Oa and heads in the Battery. He becomes Parallax. While he is in the battery, the Guardians sacrifice themselves and put all their power into Ganthet, who goes to Earth to find a new Green Lantern. Panicking, he finds the first guy on the street, Kyle Rayner. Kyle is summoned to Oa to fight Hal, and he is beaten to a bloody pulp until he destroys Oa itself with all the power he can possibly muster. Thinking Hal dead, Kyle has finally won the battle. Weeks later, he is found with the superhero team, the JLA attempting some resolution to the sun being out before we reach a new ice age. To everyone's amazement, Hal Jordan appears and says that he is here to help. He then sends himself to the sun and uses all his power as Parallax to re-ignite the sun. Hal Jordan has redeemed himself.
I know that I redid continuity abit, but that's how I'd do it. I'd pretty much figure it all the GLs mentioned here into the trilogy.

I've always toyed with the idea of WB doing justice to this character. But just for us guys here, I'd like to see Hal Jordan take the ring in a movie. I also think they should have a back story of the Alan Scott and make up a link between the continuitues.

A Green Lantern trilogy could be very Star Warish if done right. Multiple characters doing multiple things with the story of Hal Jordan the hero then then the villain as the underground focus. As a matter of fact there are alot of simularities between the two worlds and the fact that each had one person (Hal/Anakin) who turned as was responsible for eliminating his comrads.

I would like for the movie Green Lantern to be Kyle or maybe even Guy. I mean who likes a bland superhero???
Also I think a definite Kilowog and G'Nort cameo is neccessary.

I don't follow the GL comics but I'll say Hal Jordan since he was the first. :)Alan was the first. Hal was the second.
Still, I think that Hal is the most accessible and probably the most recognized Green Lantern and would work as the movie Green Lantern better than anyone else.

I agree. I also think Kyle's the sort of lighter weight character material which could be woefully miswritten for. The comic book artist come superhero sounds a little silly for a 'serious' superhero pic. I think Hal's character has what it's got to remain serious and yet charismatic. You need a character role which you feel is believable for such an unbelievable concept. I think the weight of the GL status was better reflected on Hal than it's been on Kyle.
As for John Stewart... tempting for the same reasons as Hal. John would be my second choice - he falls just behind Hal for not being so closely associated with the GL as Hal has been.
