For the newest TTTP poll, which classic cartoon character do you think was effected the most by violence?

My vote: Katnip of Herman and Katnip. This poor cat's been sawed, sliced, blown up, and killed more than any other character in cartoon history! Katnip has been abused so much, he deserves to win once in a while!

I voted for Wile E. Coyote. The poor guy's been sqaushed by boulders countless times, blown up, fall off so many cliffs and I can just keep going. I've never seen a Herman and Katnip cartoon, but if I did, I would vote for Katnip.

--either Wile E. or Tom. Wile E. seems to suffer from an obsessive-compulsive disorder that manifests itself as self-destructive behavior...and Tom is hamstrung by his feral instinct to pursue that mouse. Note, though, that Jerry often fought back, even to the point of mean-needless spiritedness (cf. "The Year of Mouse"), yet Wile E. only has himself to blame for his pain. The Roadrunner--aside from an occasional beep from behind--never did anything to hurt Wile E.

I would definitely say Wile E. Coyote. A lot of horrible things happen to him such as anvils falling on him and falling off of cliffs and landing on hard pavement.

OK, purely in the sense of earthly torments, my vote goes to Katnip too (with honorable mention to Wile E. Coyote). But consider: Daffy, Sylvester, Tom, and Yosemite Sam have also gone one more step and gotten themselves literally blown to hell ... and Sam came back! In that category, it's a four-way tie.

Just SOME examples of Katnip's torture:

"Mice Capades"-The mice point Katnip's riffle at him (without him knowing), and the poor cat dies! His soul arises, almost crying seeing his corpse. But here's the sad part, the poor kitty must feed the mice food if he wants to get into heaven! :(

"Mouseum"-Herman puts knives into "The First Wheel" and starts rolling it towards Katnip, and Katnip gets sliced, and his layers are on the floor!

"As the Crow Lies"-The only real CRUEL thing I think Buzzy did to Katnip. Buzzy places a bomb by Katnip, and the feline jumps to the ceiling, with his claws stuck. Buzzy nails his claws into the roof, and saws a hole, where he's holding on, and drops the cat to his doom. "I guess 'dat cured his hiccups for good!" Not quite, Buzzy, not quite...

Count me in for Wile E. as well. He's gotten smashed by trains more times than you can say, "Ouchie!" He frequently falls off cliffs, smashes his head into rock formations, not to mention all the other miscelaney things that have happened to him...

...After that, Daffy. He's gotten shot so much with "Rabbit Season"...:)

sorry, but this is 'fingernail-on-the-blackboard' stuff to me...

that sould read 'affected', not 'effected'

affect - to cause a change in (the moon affects the ocean level)

effect - to bring into being, or the result of (examples escape me at the moment)

anyone for as/like?:)

I pick Tom, especially in the episode MOUSE TROUBLE. The injuries Tom substains from the various mishaps actually show continuity in each following scene.

I didn't pick Wile E. because even though he gets dumped with anvils and just about anything else, in the next scene, he's still in tip-top condition.

I voted for Katnip too.

Katnip, without a doubt. Hanna-Barbera often came up with gags for Tom that were more painful than funny, but in a lot of the 1950s Famous cartoons there were nothing but painful gags. Even of someone did decide to show the Noveltoons on TV again, it's hard to see how at least half the Herman and Katnip shorts wouldn't be hacked to death because of the painful violence (Buzzy of course has a different problem with the censors...)
