Taking concatenation to be a significant piece of syntax, we can analyze the relation of predication as one of instantiating or saturating. Then "flies" becomes a function which, when taking "Theatetus" as argument, yields the formula "Theatetus flies" as a result.
Of course, this is just the test board, and you should ignore this.
