Nelson, do you happen to have any other of the early Noveltoons (the ones NOT in the Harveytoons package)? I don't mind if they have NTA titles. I am especially interested in ones such as Cilly Goose, Gabriel Churchkitten, When G.I. Johnny Comes Home, Spree For All, Cat O' Nine Ails, Flip Flap, We’re In The Honey, The Bored Cuckoo...

Jon and Thad....PMS are on the way for the both of you.!
And while we're all on the subject of toon want lists, keep your figners crossed, but I may have uncovered in my film vault some George Pal Puppetoons last weekend.I say this cause I found a restored print from the UCLA FILM AND TELEVISON ARCHIVE of the classic "Date With Duke" and there might be some other restored Puupetoons in my collection....Will keep everyone posted on my latest discoveries!

Jon I also own the Buzzy The Crow cartoon "No Ifs, And Or Butts" with the original Paramount titles, including the original ending were Buzzy takes drag of cigarette and blows a smoke ring to reveal the Paramount logo. Two other Paramount shorts I have in my collection is the 1950 Noveltoon short , "Pleased To Eat You" w/The Hungry Lion also with Paramount titles and it's uncut, as well as "A Self Made Mongrel" w/Dogface, but this short has the NTA titles.
So Jon, do you have these three shorts?

I'd really like to see the original, uncut ending of "Duck Dodgers and the return of the 24 1/2th Century", banned in the UK since 1990!
I'd also like to see some more of the original B/W Felix cartoons, plus the original Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie (not computer-colorised). I can't believe I still have not ever seen that cartoon!
I have a PD tape with some Noveltoons on it (8mm TV prints, Paramount logo blacked out), which for some reason cuts off early! About 3/4 of the way through "The Wee Men", the picture suddenly cuts to black and there's 20 minutes of nothing on the tape! I guess someone accidentally hit stop on the master VT machine while the tapes were being duplicated. I'd like to see what happens to the villian after the gold turns into bees!
I could also get you AVI clips of the three deleted scenes from Droopy's Good Deed (including the rich man scene), but you'd have to tell me what codec and bitrate to use. Nothing more annoying than making an AVI file then finding that the recipient can't play it!

I'd really like to see the original, uncut ending of "Duck Dodgers and the return of the 24 1/2th Century", banned in the UK since 1990!
Tom, I have the full, complete version of that cartoon, with "restored" titles (that were used on the laserdisc version), but the full-length cartoon ensues, right up to and including the ending about the earth blowing up and Marvin coming into the LT target announcing "It was just a cartoon"....
"Porky The Wrestler- Uncut..." Are you sure it's edited, the copies Nick and CN ran seem completely uncut.
Well, I won't know for sure until I see a 16mm print of it (because splices are obvious in 16mms), but I'll tell you why I think there's at least TWO scenes missing.....
1. Most WB cartoons from 1936/37 run about 7 1/2 minutes - 8 1/2 minutes. The CN/Nick version clocks in at about 6:40 including full credits, a little bit too short for cartoons from this time, which makes me suspicious.
2. Remember that the cartoons in these years tried to entice audiences into the popular music themes they used in them, and just a few years before this cartoon was made the "Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes" were completely built around an entire song, much like the "Sing-a-Longs". Listen to the soundtrack after Man Mountain swallows the pipe and they play "train"- the "California, Here I Come" music is customized and plays right through all the interjected "railway" jokes, except at two points in the song- (right after the guy going down the aisle with the "crackerjack, peanuts, postcards", the next scene cuts right into the middle of the next musical verse..... and right before the guy looks out the window, another stanza of music is chopped). I find this very unlikely, because I as I said, I know how Stalling catered the music to fit the onscreen activity, and played on visual cues with the music. This makes me feel like something is missing.
and 3. (the most important reason) I don't trust Nick or CN :p after seeing some of the atrocities they pulled off on their treatment of excising other scenes from classic cartoons :lepew: ... it stinks!!
They sometimes do act like bimbos http://members.rogers.com/kittyface/images/BettySmilie.gif
Anyway, as I said, I won't know for sure until somebody can prove me wrong with a film print of it, but until then, I'm standing firm on my suspicion..... just call me "the doubting Larry" ...

2. I know how Tashlin liked his music conduction- his cartoons around this time were just like full symphonies, and Stalling would help facilitate his ideas. Remember that the cartoons in these years tried to entice audiences into the popular music themes they used in them, and just a few years before this cartoon was made the "Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes" were completely built around an entire song, much like the "Sing-a-Longs". My "Most Wanted" list is pretty much the same as Thad's, but I'd like to add:
FAMOUS:
-- Little Lulu - Lulu in Hollywood, Lucky Lulu, It's Nifty to be Thrifty, Super Lulu, Daffydilly Daddy, The Babysitter, etc. (basically all the ones you CAN'T find on cheap PD tapes)
There is a licensed Republic tape that has "Lulu in Hollywood" (with the original Paramount title card!) and "The Baby Sitter", along with "Beau Ties" and one with a dog catcher (NOT "The Dog Show Off"), along with several Screen Songs. I rented it from a long-gone video store probably 10 years ago.
"Super Lulu" is on cheap PD tapes; I have one. Strangely, the UM&M titles have green backgrounds instead of the usual red.

Bosko The Talkin' Kid :bosko:BOSKO THE TALK-INK KID will be on the Looney Tunes 4-disc set this October. DER FUERHER'S FACE has been announced for the Disney Wartime Set--so COMMANDO DUCK has a tiny possibility, you never know.

Commando Duck is in trade rotation, in a fairly decent copy, so if it's not on the WWII set, it's still around. I think it will be though.
