I've heard from pretty much all corners that the "Brain Powered" anime both sucks and blows, but how is the manga? I'm interested in anything that's kinda Evangelion ripoff-y.

Also, what new manga releases from Tokyopop have everyone been enjoying? I've never heard of any of them, and I dislike having to make a purchase decision based on flipping through the book in the store (wound up with Gatekeepers, which wasn't fantastic, and Battle Royale which I've yet to read). There's a new one about a "bandit king" or something (not One Piece, that's Viz), and what seems like numerous swords-n-sorcery books. Any referrals?

Isn't GTO from Tokyopop? I heard that's pretty good.

I'm enjoying the Lupin manga...

The FLCL manga should be out in a couple of months, that should be great.

The Chobits manga is very good if you're not already buying, as is Kodocha, the Man of Many Faces and Clamp School Detectives (again, if you're not getting them already). Both Cowboy Bebop manga series have now been fully released, and both are great. Coming down the pipe FLCL and Niea_7 both look to be pretty good, and if you're not afraid of shonen-ai (translation gay) manga, Gravitiation is alright.

Bandit King Jing? King of Bandit Jing?

Bandit King Jing? King of Bandit Jing?

That's it. I took a swing by the Tokyopop website and found out the names of the ones that looked interesting:

Jing King of Bandits: Flipped through a copy in the store. Some of it looked pretty good, but a lot of it looked very cartoony as well.

King of Hell: Seen better art, and I wish it were right-to-left, but the premise sounds interesting. Then again, there are like a dozen manga coming out that have to do with "demon hunters".

Samurai Deeper Kyo: I'm a sucker for split personalities.

Petshop of Horrors: I loved the anime, but is this book just a retread of the same stories? Also, it's very CLAMP looking (nothing wrong with that, just not my cuppa).

Scryed: Will probably pick this one up.

Geez, this is getting big. I expected to find one, maybe two series, not start a friggin' library. I'm still floored by the thought that GTO is 25 volumes long...
