Anyone read this one? I thought it was pretty good, no where near as good as Timm and Dini's "Mad Love", but still good. The style seems to be more animated, but did they mean for it to look that way?

I got it today but haven't had time to read it yet. When I do, I'll come back and post my opinion.:)

Well, I read it and I must say, I am a little dissappointed. The artwork wasn't very good, IMO and the story was just so so. Definitely not as good as the series itself or the Worlds At War Tie in.

Agreed, the OWAW story was really pretty good, I can't wait to see how it affects Jimmy in Harley's upcoming journey to Metropolis. BTW, are there any other Harley fans out there? Seems to be a short list...

I occasionaly venture to the official Harley Quinn board at dccomics.com and there seems to be alot of ANGRY Harley fans. All they do it whine about how awful the series is and how it made them disrespect their role model! (Really!) I think Harley is a great character, but just becuase I don't like her ongoing series that much doesn't mean I lost all respect for her. Sometimes people take this a bit too seriously.

I am comtemplating picking the series up again, but I may wait...

Harley Quinn is a great character! The best thing about her is that she originated with Batman: The Animated Series.

Yeah, another Harley fan! slowly but surely building up to three:p I agree, the animated series appearances are the best, and her comic book is right behind that. This one-shot was a little disappoinitng, but hopefully we can get some better ones down the road, maybe one more Dini-Timm story. That would be so awesome.....

Just a note, the prestige format one-shot is a prequel to the ongoing series, according to DC Comics.

The artwork was pretty ugly. I mean, Chiodos Poison Ivy was fine and so was his Harley, but his guys were just fugly.

His Bruce was some kind of weird beerslam of TAS Bruce and Michael Keaton.

The paints were extremely drab for being such a light hearted story.

As far as the writing, well everything this story did, Paul Dini did ten times better on many occasions in the animated series.

This could have been *so* much better.

As for Harley having an ongoing series, I love the character but its just a dumb idea. Of course, the fact that you have a character who essentially a villan (shes funny but shes a villan) title an off-shoot of the kind of nihilism we've seen in comics for so many years and which the TAS versions of DC characters is such a wonderfully refreshing change from. I can find humor in her psychosis of course, but the ongoing title seems to sort of celebrate it in a way that I just find unappealing.

Its also just really weird seeing Harley drawn in a realist-type style. Still, I like Terry Dodsons work and I adored his version of the TRUE Batgirl Barbra Gordon (yeah it was Harley dressed up but the visual was there notheless and dont get me started on ninja-***** Batgirl)

What's wrong with the new Batgirl?! I tell you, people've got a real problem with the DC females with their own book! I also love the Batgirl series, it's not a lot of reading, but the pictures and words are balanced so well, and they're coming on to some really good stories (I can't wait till Cassandra faces off against Shiva again :D ) That's gonna be an awesome story...

My problem is not that she has her own book. My problem is that she's not Barbra Gordon because poor Babs had to be layed on slab of the grim n' gritty trend when The Killing Joke came out.

Also this new Batgirl is just so agressively geared to be kewl. She's a female Snake Eyes with leet fight-move mind reading ability. Her costume is especially ugly (the sewn up mouth look extremely stupid).

Thank god to Bruce Timm and co. for allowing the one true Batgirl to fight on.

I thought the new Batgirl costume was really cool. It really fits who she is...
