I loved the three JL promos that have aired on CN the past month or so. However, I wonder how CN should advertise the show. Clearly, the show will be aimed at all adults and is not just a childs cartoon. Now that Samurai Jack has been moved to 9:00 PM, I'm assuming that Justice League will follow at 9:30 PM, instead of 8:30 PM. If Cartoon Network advertised the show on other networks like UPN, during Enterprise and Buffy, on TNT when shows like Lois and Clark and Witchblade, on Sci Fi, and The WB during Smallville, they could pull in some pretty big adult numbers.

CN can't advertise on UPN becuase UPN is owned by Viacom, a rivial to Time Warner. Still, they can advertise on TNN, TNT, TBS, TheWB, and what other channels TW owns.I've already seen CN advertisements on TBS during prime-time.

I know that already, but I mean, Farscape commericials aired on CN, why not vice versa? The same for UPN. Sure, UPN is owned by Viacom and Sci Fi by USA Networks, but it can still be done. You can advertise on other networks if you buy advertising from them. It's not done all the time, but it's not unheard of. Besides, I believe TNT, TBS and other AOL Time Warner owned companies still have to pay money to advertise their shows on other AOLTW owned nets.

Of course, you don't see NBC promoting CBS shows, but I mean, cable wise. I don't think UPN would mind airing a Justice League promo if they got paid for it. In all likelyhood, this will not happen, but it was just a thought.

I think our best bet would be promos on the WB. It would only be during their cartoon blocks, but still...

After their treatment of BB and wholesale cancellation of WBA-made shows, I think such promotions would be almost in bad taste.

My local Cable provider does "spotlight ads" for shows on cable that are aired in a slot thats normally used for local advertising, one of the recent shows spotlighted is Samurai Jack and they're showing that ad on practically every channel - I expect my cable company to do the same for JL.

Aside from Batman/Superman, has the WB ever been a bastion of good taste?

I don't mind it being advertised at night. That would be great!

*But* one of the great things that the animated series have been able to do (so very much unlike mainline DC Comics of the past 20 years) is be able to bring both adults *AND* kids to the party.

So I dont the shows advertising to be exclusively adult. Just advertise it to the right kids age group. Advertise JL next to the audience that watches Digimon or Transformers, not the audience watching Teletubbies or Magic Schoolbus.
