View Full Version : What the bloody **** is "Aqua Man and Friends Variety Hour"?

Alright, a long while ago, a rumor popped up that a new Williams Street show was in production, one that would involve Aquaman having a variety show where he'd unintentionally scare and bore children, and it would star the original voice actor that played Aquaman. Those rumors started to diminish. Now recently I've been hearing tidbits of information that the show is a Latin CN affiliate exclusive. So what's the deal here?
Is the show a comedy or an action show?
Is it on the "Latin Adult Swim" or is it essentially a children's show?
Did Williams Street make it? (I doubt Williams Street would write a comedy show in Spanish, unless I'm underestimating how many of their employees speak fluent Spanish)
Does the show actually feature the voice talent of the original Aquaman guy, or was that a false rumor?
What is the plot to this show?

I've asked these questions before, [whenever the show gets brought up, to be specific] but people always seem to ignore me. If someone would please answer these questions and/or provide some form of information on this show, I'd greatly appreciate it.

It's a magical pyramid of orange juice and bread. In your mind.

So...it doesn't exist...

Yeah it does exist. Originally it was going to be made for WS America, but obvilously got some support from the Latin American countries (or bad feedback here) and became a strictly Latin American WS show. It's Adult and a humor show, and it's plot is basically the insane happenings of Aquaman and his various under the sea friends, and I don't know if the voice of Aquaman is the original guy (I don't think it is though).

Considering Ted Knight passed away almost 15 years ago, I highly doubt it's him...

How do YOU know that? Williams Street may have some magical zombie potion thingy that brought Ted back to life.

They must put this on in the US. It could be the greatest thing CN has ever done.

I have this strong feeling that if they did actually bring back Aquaman with an updated series, www.seanbaby.com was the strongest inspiration for doing so.

Hell yeah. They should let him write the show.

I hear in Spanish, Aqua Man is known as Agua Man.

Well, it only changes a letter and literally means "Water Man" but Aqua Man is already lame, so to take away the connection to a bigger word like "Aquatic"/"Aquaticos" robs him of whatever miniscule amount of coolness he has.

We can only hope for Ws to bring it here.

They probably will some day (a long time from now anyway) but I'm guessing that they need some exclusive show for the international markets for Adult Swim, and Aquaman is it.

Ted Knight narrated the original Aquaman cartoons that Filmation produced for CBS in 1967. Marvin Miller was the voice of the Sea King then. Norm Alden took over when Super Friends debuted in '73, but was replaced by Bill Calloway for the Challenge series and all remaining incarnations. I know Miguel Ferrer did a guest gig on the Superman show as Aquaman, but I'm not sure if he reprised on Justice League.

Alden, in fact, was brought back to have Aquaman do a commercial from the CN offices a few years back, so it's likely that he's the one they were recruiting to do the variety show.

That jabroni, an inspiration? I don't think so! He's a disrespectful punk who probably is secretly working for Williams St.! I once e-mailed him to ream him on his dissing the Super Friends, and he never deigned to reply!

 What the world? Aye, aye, aye! What's the world comin' to next? Now, George Lowe...since he voices Brak's Dad, I think he can maybe speak spanish... Then again, you don't have to speak it to sound like it! :anime:

I imagine Aquaman must be the easiest superhero to make fun of, even more so than Space Ghost. Just look at these clips!
