I'll be the first to admit that I'm a little concerned that Paul Walker and fast cars are the only thing returning from the original, but at the same time, Walker was one of the reasons I went to it the first time so I'm hoping the sequel does just as well.

While I haven't seen the film yet, I heard on the news last night that it is causing problems for the police, who are no doubt worried about over-active teens jumping into cars and creating havoc. Didn't watch the report though.
Oh, and does anyone know why it was called 2 Fast 2 Furious rather than The Fast and the Furious 2?

Oh, and does anyone know why it was called 2 Fast 2 Furious rather than The Fast and the Furious 2?I doubt there is some real fancy reason behind, just kind of a clever name (at least in my view). There was a day when sequels had different names rather than just putting a '2' at the end of the original's title.
I kind of like it.

Better cars, better chases, better ending, but the plot line could have been so much better. My 3.5 stars was generous. IMO, Diesel made the first movie what it was, in this one, Tyrese was excellent. I say the original wins by a nose hair or a N2O sticker, whichever one...
oh yeah, the first 100 people to buy tickets got a movie poster:)

The movie was good but it dragged on to long at parts namely the chase secenes, some of them were entirely too long. Tyrese was funny though and the other characters made for a good flavor. I didn't see the original movie but this was a decent film.
A fight broke out torwards the end of the movie where we were so I missed about 5 or 8 minutes. And yeah on that over active teen thing, my friend and I got back in his car and the man was speeding like a demon. I have to admit after seeing the movie I wanted to cut through lanes, shift gears, hit turbo and stuff too.
Oh and Tyrese needed to keep his damn shirt on. This was a movie targeted torwards guys ! :moon2:

Just saw it today, and let me say, it was pretty good.
Brian was alot cooler than in the first one (and I loved the references to the first one so that we had the feel that it was the same character).
Roman was cool, except for the fact that if I hear anyone say "brah" in the next week, they're gettin' a fast a furious smack in the head.
The plot was good, too. Completely different than the first one. While the first one dealt with people and emotions and racing and problems and racing and racing and life on the streets, this one deals with Miami Vice stuff. However, while this one owned, the first one monopolizes.
Both are awesome. 2 Fast...2 Furious...3 stars. (For the record, the first one gets 4.)

I got dragged to see it last night...
I must say it was pretty good... way better than the first one. Deffinate fun movie to watch. It felt more like Grand Theft Auto: The Movie than a sequel to "Fast & The Furious".
Paul Walker acts a little better than the first one (though he still cant act).
Tyrese shows that he can act himself in this movie, just like "Baby Boy". He has a lot of funny lines, though and is a cool character.
Who would have thought Ludacris could act better than Paul Walker? :p
Eva Mendesz was great as the Customs agent... looking great too.
The actress who played Suki... What can I say, HOT!! :D A hot girl with a hot car... A match made in heaven *sighs* :D
Most of the driving/chase scenes did drag along too much. Another inconsistency is Walker's and Mendes characters kissing in the boat, even though no physical intimacy was shown before or after??
All in all it was a fun movie to watch... Deffinately better than the first one.

I just saw it today. I thought it would be good, but had some concerns. Not Vin Diesel, but could Paul Walker (who I like) carry this sequel being the only one returning from the first one, and he did. If the movie sucked I was not going to play the Vin Diesel card.
The first race was awesome but at times certain parts of the races seemed fake compared to the first.
I like how Brian's reason for letting Dominic from the first one go was kind of a way of exorcising the demons for what happened to Roman in the past.
I love how the plot got deeper than the first one, and how the racing part was not that big of a factor compared to the first.
I loved the ending.
Roman-"Don't drop the soap."
Brian-"You know he's gonna kill you when he gets out"
Roman-"He's not getting out!"
Brian-"Yes he is."
Roman-"He's not really gonna get out?"
But a very fun movie and highly recommened.

I saw this movie last Thursday :shame: but I really wanted to organize my thoughts and sometimes it takes me a while to actually put them down. Even so they might not be perfectly organized, but it still works out okay…
I was kind of torn as to whether or not this one was better than the first one, but I ultimately decided that it was. I like Paul Walker so seeing him get more of a focus in this one when the original is often regarded as Vin Diesel’s story even though Walker was top-billed. There was a lot more humor and this one and I thought that was a good thing. It just made things a lot more fun while still maintaining a lot of the intensity of the first. I don’t mind (and often like) if movies wow me or make me think, but ultimately we go to movies to be entertained and that’s exactly what 2 Fast 2 Furious did.
The thing that I found really interesting about the first race is that Brian has, in some ways, become the idolized and revered figure in the street racing world of Florida just like Dom was in California. You can just feel the respect in everyone as he pulls up in that sweet silver car.
You know when Rome says “I got a problem with authority.” in the club? And he’s wearing that gray shirt with the pink design on it? I think the ‘authority’ Roman Pierce has a problem with is the fashion police. :p Sorry, I just had to get it out of my system.
Another thing that I really liked was the return of FBI Agent Bilkins. When I read Thom Barry on the credits for this one I didn’t make the connection until I saw him on screen so it was a very pleasant surprise that gave the movie just a little bit more consistency with the last one and was exactly what it needed.
On that same note, I liked how they related Brian letting Dom go to what happened to Rome years before. It tied the movies together very nicely and also managed to make it more about Brian and Rome than Brian and the guy who replaced Vin Diesel. It almost took away from Dominic Toretto’s place in the ‘Fast & the Furious’ universe which is what they needed to do to make this one work and work it did.
The red car getting smashed by the two semis was fantastic and I could see we were leading up to that with the trailer. With the way a semi kind of pulls you toward it a bit those two that close together must have been like a wind tunnel.
While it didn’t seem intense as Brian’s feelings for Mia because I liked the developing ‘stuff’ going on between Brian and Monica Fuentes. I think Brian O’Conner must have a thing for Latinas. ;) Anyway, I liked how he was falling for her and she was falling for him. You could tell he truly cared about her when he risked his life to get to Verone’s boat.
Speaking of that, the end sequence was awesome. Rome’s mention of the Dukes of Hazzard was well placed and the landing on the boat was just plain cool and Monica helping to take down Verone with his own gun was great.
The ending with Rome pocketing some of the cash seemed to fit his character very well and it looks like he and Brian are on their way.

Just a little clarification for Penguin. The silver car was a Nissan Skyline GtR-34, a fanboy's dreamcar when it comes to imports. Its nickname in Japan is Godzilla, which it richly deserves.

Wow................... >_> That was actually pretty durn good.
I just saw it, and for what it was it was pretty much perfect. I don't like it when movies rely too much on star power, so I'm actually kinda glad that Vin Deisel wasn't in it.
I'm confused, cuz... that was really good.
Oh and Tyrese needed to keep his damn shirt on. This was a movie targeted torwards guys ! :moon2:
That was my only problem with it, but I guess you gotta make the wimmens happy too.
