View Full Version : Boring technical drawing

Disclaimer: I SUCK at technical drawing. Seriously. For some reason, I can never get my lines nice and light and even, like the people who do drafting or architecture.

Anyway, here's some random objects, and perspective art.

We have to do a drawing like this once a week. Yep, that's a Tamagotchi. I haven't replaced the batteries for about six years though, poor thing. ^_^

Another drawing of an object from three different angles.

Anybody getting flashbacks to art classes yet? :P You'd be amazed at how long this took me. I'm so bad at it. -_-'
And no, I haven't drawn the window yet. I'm having a bit of a problem with it...

NF...hey, those aren't bad. The room looks great and the walkman from three perspectives is pretty good, too. I'll admit though, the curvatures on that keychain thing look a little off...but you nailed the more detailed pieces, easily.

Delia - Nice remote! I lost mine...can I borrow that? :)

You're way too modest. Those are all great!

I kinda chuckled when I saw the Tamagotchi. I haven't changed the battery in mine for years, either. :) The neat thing about mine is that the first one I ever raised was, apparently, a rare one (a human head with little stick arms and legs on it) and I kept it alive for 27 days! That really surpised me.

The room reminds me that I still haven't finished a top-down perspective drawing of my room I started doing in Paint. It's crazily detailed and though I've hardly done anything in it compared to how much is in my room, it's a BMP image of over 2MB already! :p

Oh yeah, is that a Panasonic Shockwave walkman?

You can cheat on your Tamagotchi if you keep adjusting the clock time until it's like 50 days old.

Um..... I think so. I don't really use the walkman much; tapes are so 80s. ;)

More stuff. Posting these are a bit premature since I haven't shown them to my teacher yet, so they'll probably change. Especially the room in 2-pt perspective; I've spent a good eight hours on it or more, and it's still not finished! (It needs more detail)

Another one of those thingies. I think I'm getting better at them.

The pool table nearly killed me. @_@ I averaged about ten to twenty minutes for each hole. The worst was when I made a mistake....erased it....and then made the same mistake again. -_-'

An exterior layout in two point perspective. It's a little messy.

Stank... :D

You know, seeing these things makes me want to do some architectural/perspective-type drawings of my own. The last time I did that, that I can remember distinctly, is back in grade 8 or so when we drew houses. I remember asking the teacher if I could add the shingles to the roof, but she said no and wouldn't give me a reason. I'm just guessing that it was so I wouldn't show up anyone, because no one was expected to do it. Heh heh... As a result, I finished way earlier than most of my classmates and was bored. Oh, I guess some of the drafting stuff I did later on could count, too. Now that was one course where I infinitely preferred mechanical drafting as opposed to computerized. :) Computer drafting is fun, but...lacking somehow.

Wow they are fine. I can see why they took you so long! A lot of respect due there NF, it's tough buckling down and doing something technical - especially if it isn't your 'thang'. They are pretty bleedin' good if you ask me and the pool table was well worth the time/energy.

So thrilled you are answering your call and getting down and dirty with your talent. It's so good to see you making use of it.

I would offer a cookie if it wasn't someone elses trademark so.. *offers out Aston Martins* :)

Very nice, neat and detailed! Though they lack your personal style, they're still very pleasurable and great to see! :)

Ooo! :D Can I have a forest green DB5 for um...past posts I made that you may have enjoyed? (I'll take a Vantage as a substitute if you've run out of DB5s.)

I really like the forest glen pic. The perspective and attention to detail is amazing. I don't think I'd have the patience to draw something like that. I'm the type that likes to do simple, stylized backgrounds, rather than one like that. My hat's off to you, NF. *BOW*

Nightflower, your neat drawings are very nice and nicly skeched, why do you think it is all boring and all, I mean the most of us TZ users on this topic like your art. :)

I think they're really good. I just have some perspective questions (I think I've pretty much got it though 3 point is still kinda confusing :p ) The picture of the first rooms are 1 point perspective, right? I know the nature one is 2 point, but could you explain to me why it couldn't be 1 point? :)

Those are fantastic, Nightflower! The detail is great, and the amount of time you put into them is apparent. I particularly love the two interior scenes: the furniture looks wonderful (you did a lovely job of getting some different styles in - not just plain old box-type furniture), and the skylight in the second one is spectacular! I can understand why you aren't fond of doing this type of drawing, but I wouldn't call them boring all the same: pics that you can look at for a while and keep finding new things in are great! :)

Because the assignment was supposed to be in 2 point. :p

As usual, you have shown that you are one of the best drafts(wo)men I have ever known!

the object drawings are great... Theres not much I can say that others havent already :)

The interior and one exterior are fantastic. All the problems that you said you had are only out of the fact you havent practiced it in a while. It'll come faster as you practice it.

I think a few of us should get together and put a project out and try to sell it! :D
