View Full Version : Positioning
First off I have no idea if I spelt that word right.
This is a pic I put on the DB a few days ago and its been bothering me for a bit. It's part of my Marvel Legends series and I did it, not quite been able to put my finger on what was wrong with it.
In the end I came to the pose (and the colours used but thats a different thread). The legs seem weird to me so I was hoping all y'all could critique this fella here ( :) *shine* SPIDER-MAN *shine* :) ). He is located in my MSN group and can be found here (http://groups.msn.com/picsidrewanduploaded/pictures.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=85)

It's not what you asked for, but I recommend learning the concept of the line of action (http://www.freetoon.com/prestonblair/02-charactermov/pages/090.html). If you keep it in mind and follow it, it'll make your poses more dynamic, so long as you use it properly. There's a slight one in your drawing, but it's fairly straight and stiff (You'll notice the ones in the link all have a slight curve).
The leg is a little off on the foreshortening. You could try first drawing what it would look like from a side view, then extend lines to where everything would be in your desired angle. That doesn't make sense, so how about an example? :)

If none of this makes sense, it's because I'm tired. -_-'
Thanks for the feedback guys!
Outlander - Look again!!!
Nightflower - Thank you for the link. This should hopefully help out a lot os posing is one of the areas I find most difficult. Thank you!

Also keep an eye on realism. You have him firing a web in two different directions. One hand should hold as the other thwips. Get the intent of the characters movement right, and that will help with the motion.

I also learned in art class recently that a diagonal line shows more movement than a horizontal or vertical line. Spidey's figure, especially in the arms, seems to show this rather well, but I thought it would help to remember that tip when your putting motion in your future drawings.
