"So, Basil, if I travel back to 1969 and I was frozen in 1967, conceivably I could visit my frozen self. But, if I'm still frozen in 1967, how could I have been unthawed in the 90's and traveled back to the Sixties? Oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed." - Austin Powers

Release Date: June 11, 1999
Studio: New Line Cinema
Director: Jay Roach
Starring: Mike Myers, Heather Graham, Michael York, Robert Wagner, Rob Lowe, Seth Green, Elizabeth Hurley

Plot Summary: The year is 1999 and Austin Powers is honeymooning with the smashing Vanessa Kensington (Hurley) when he receives an 'explosive' surprise that returns him to single swinging status. To make matters worse, Dr. Evil has returned to Earth from the frozen recesses of space and is hatching a new diabolical scheme to annihilate the world. It seems Dr. Evil uses a newly developed time machine to travel back to 1969, where he steals Austin Powers' mojo, rendering Austin...powerless? Luckily, British Intelligence has developed a unique time machine of their own - a psychedelic Volkswagen Beetle. In the biggest Austin Powers adventure yet, the International Man of Mystery must travel back to the Swinging Sixties, track down his mojo and thwart Dr. Evil's plot to destroy the world. Of course, along the way, Austin meets his match in CIA operative Felicity Shagwell (Graham), a fab chick, a hot spy and a fantastic motivation for restoring his libido.

I think this one was the better of the trilogy, because it had more original jokes than Goldmember and didn't have to give screen time to characterization like the first did.

Plus this one has the added bonus of introducing Mini-Me.

I would probably say this was better then "International Man Of Mystery" and just as good as "Goldmember" mainly for all the various jokes and refrences. I really haven't seen the James Bond Movies to compare them too, but the Austin Powers movies are really about humor and spoofing whatever it wants to get a laugh, most of the time is the 007 man himself. I give this an A or 4.5 stars.

Is this some sort of time warp?

(For what its worth, I think this is the best of the Austin Powers trilogy.)

I've yet to see Goldmember. However, I did enjoy this. Some familar jokes, however Mini Me, Jerry Springer and Seth Green really made this... oh and Dr Evil - naturally..

As Heaven is my witness, I honestly cannot fathom people liking the sequels better than the original movie. The toilet humor in the sequels is just ridiculous and the leading ladies aren't nearly as attractive as Elizabeth Hurley (who, let's face it, was written out rather clumsily in the opening scene of this movie).

Generally, the Austin scenes (particularly a gruesomely nasty and offensive bit involving a sample) were entirely disposable...but the Dr. Evil scenes more than made up for them. Still, it's no match for the original.
