Okay, I've been out of the fighting game buisness for a while. Had to sell my Ps2 and all my video games to pay some hospital bills. It was my birthday a few weeks ago and they took me to the arcade. I picked up tekken 4 on the arcade and was playing and my friend challenged me to it. He's no good at fighters, and normally it's not his thing. But the times we played tekken on console, he beat me(mainly cause i let him). Also he's the type of guy that if he gets whooped at a game he will never pick it up agian, or it ends up sucking. I like playing the fighting games on occasion to get away from the ass whooping i receive in sports games(not my bag), but i don't really play to win as i do to make up new combos and stuff(hence, more losing) .
Well back to the story....he beat me over and over in the arcade version, by using an eddie gordo character. I've always had a slight handicap to eddie gordo characters, but it was also enhanced by my lack of being able to use the arcade joystick. So here i am trying to do my combo's and moves aren't coming out and he's winning actually thinking that he's good.
Now.....my thing used to be and kinda still is a loss is a loss. But should i punish him by getting tekken again for a system and abuse him, knowing that's the last time i'll ever be able to play the game w/ him. Or should i stick to my old motto and say it really doesn't matter as long as you know you can beat him if you really decided to try.
Or...........should build off his ego and say, "since you're sooooo good" why don't we make a little wager. If i whoop you consistantly for 30 some matches everytime i bring up tekken you have to say, "You are a great tekken master(boy that sounds lame)."
Next question is, as a gamer should my conversion between arcade and console be flawless? Or does that actually count as a viable excuse nowadays in the gaming world, on not being able to use the joystick?
