Okay, I've been out of the fighting game buisness for a while. Had to sell my Ps2 and all my video games to pay some hospital bills. It was my birthday a few weeks ago and they took me to the arcade. I picked up tekken 4 on the arcade and was playing and my friend challenged me to it. He's no good at fighters, and normally it's not his thing. But the times we played tekken on console, he beat me(mainly cause i let him). Also he's the type of guy that if he gets whooped at a game he will never pick it up agian, or it ends up sucking. I like playing the fighting games on occasion to get away from the ass whooping i receive in sports games(not my bag), but i don't really play to win as i do to make up new combos and stuff(hence, more losing) .

Well back to the story....he beat me over and over in the arcade version, by using an eddie gordo character. I've always had a slight handicap to eddie gordo characters, but it was also enhanced by my lack of being able to use the arcade joystick. So here i am trying to do my combo's and moves aren't coming out and he's winning actually thinking that he's good.

Now.....my thing used to be and kinda still is a loss is a loss. But should i punish him by getting tekken again for a system and abuse him, knowing that's the last time i'll ever be able to play the game w/ him. Or should i stick to my old motto and say it really doesn't matter as long as you know you can beat him if you really decided to try.

Or...........should build off his ego and say, "since you're sooooo good" why don't we make a little wager. If i whoop you consistantly for 30 some matches everytime i bring up tekken you have to say, "You are a great tekken master(boy that sounds lame)."

Next question is, as a gamer should my conversion between arcade and console be flawless? Or does that actually count as a viable excuse nowadays in the gaming world, on not being able to use the joystick?

The thing with the things is the way the things should be.

I'm glad you recognize........normally i'd trash characters like that....stupid arcade stick.....still i admitt i used to have a handicap. I guess i thought about it too much or something.......So what should i do about it? Get the game and punish him? Or just let it go?

I would say no and forget about it, but if you want to humiliate him for your own evil purposes......then get it. Get good with characters like Kazuya, King, Paul, Jin, or Hwaorang. Then tear the roof off the house when you play him again. If he starts to cry, tell him to get some skills and stop being a button masher.

Comedy "Beat him up in real life" option :coach:

Or say "Screw Tekken, let's play Soul Cali." Numerous problems solved.

When i was saying hardcore fighters, i meant people that take fighting games seriously, like a religion.

If i get virtua fighter 4 i'll be obligated to learn the game to perfection. My cousin just picked up the game a while ago and always brags about how superior it is to tekken..i believe him, but he's the one that brutalized me as a kid and started my obsession with fighting games. To date i have never consistantly beat him. If i had to give ya'll a ball park figure of our total record fighting game wise...it would be 3045 to 7 . I can beat regular people....just not my cousin. Though whooping my friend in a game that requires much skill would be cool. Boy i want to dominate him.

Stupid arcade stick. Stupid retirement.

Or better yet:
Step 1) Stop playing him in Arcade Tekken 4
Step 2) Go steal a PS2
Step 3) Play him in home version.
Step 4) Shoot whoever else decides to bash Tekken.

Yeah! No disses Tekken! That was hardcore 3D fighting back in the day. Say what you want about the installments after Tekken Tag Tournament. All the ones before it kicked serious arse!
