Family Guy (Monday-Thursday, 11:30 p.m.), Cartoon Network’s latest off-net acquisition for its popular Adult Swim franchise, posted the network’s largest adults 18-34 delivery in its history on Thursday, May 15, according to Nielsen Media Research. The telecast averaged 895,000 viewers, up 289% vs. the same time period last year, and scored a 1.4 rating, up 250%, making it the 17th most-watched program on ad-supported cable among adults 18-34. As a result, the entire Adult Swim block (Sunday-Thursday, 11 p.m.-2 a.m.) earned triple-digit delivery and ratings gains across all target demos:
· Adults 18-34 delivery (428,000) grew by 189% and ratings (0.7) by 250%.
· Adults 18-24 delivery (254,000) increased by 345% and ratings (0.9) by 350%.
· Men 18-34 delivery (302,000) expanded by 272% and ratings (0.9) by 200%.
· Men 18-24 delivery (182,000) ballooned by 355% and ratings (1.4) by 367%.
the episode in question btw, was "Death Lives" (2ACX20).

Call me crazy, but I predict that will happen.
Anyway, about the ratings, since Family Guy seems to be working out well, I hope they keep advertising the original AS shows (HM and the WS shows) during Family Guy; luckily, they seem to be doing exactly that. So, I'm happy. :)

Well with these super high ratings, there is a good possibility for another run of new episodes of Family Guy made specifically for Adult Swim, but it will take time. First the entire crew will have to come together and actually make the episodes, which will take at least 6 to 8 months, most likely a year. Also, due to the fact that CN has a much lower budget then FOX, these episodes may take more time then usual to be done right.

Awesome! This is a really promising sign. It will definitely take a while before anything comes to fruition, but I'm holding out hope for new episodes.

Are the action shows not doing well?is that why they're never mentioned?

they tend to brag a lot when a show breaks a record, but yes the action shows have been mentioned. just recently CN reported that the ASA shows were beating out NBC, ABC, and CBS in a few target demographics. (Trigun was beating Letterman in adults 18-34, men 18-34 for example.)

Now, now. PLEASE don't get your hopes up so high. First of all: Think of the people who created the original episodes. We have to wait to see if Seth even wants to do it anymore (well, if he didn't do it, screw new episodes, since he does 50% of the voices and without his touch the show would be crap). You must remember that the third season (the 3ACX episodes) happened because of an immense fan push. FOX scrambled to get writers, and most of the old ones left and the new writers aren't as good. For FG first viewers, you may notice a very gradual decrease in hilarity during the next 3ACX episodes (they're still funny, but nothing will make you almost bust a gut anymore). Why is that? The new writers.
Now, if CN takes hold, they'll have to get Seth MacFarlane, all the voice actors (Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Alex Borstein, etc.) and scramble to get writers who do well in the FG-area. Hopefully, they'd be wise to get the writers of Sealab 2021...as well as a few writers from the Season 1 & 2 era, and maybe some from the Season 3 era.
Second of all: We're beating Jay Leno, Conan and Letterman for god's sake, I think CN would be smart enough to order new episodes...whether flash or traditional, that's a big question. Now, nobody could say "OH! Flash defintely, remember Home Movies?". OK, please look at my username, and you'll understand that a HM fan is saying this: In no way did HM ever beat Letterman, and Home Movies never used traditional anyways (squiqqlevision is actually a computer animation system). FG, did on the other hand, and it can't do a ton of things that the old FG could in Flash (see Stewie's Futurama-like miniature spaceship in last night's "Emission Impossible" to see what I mean). Also, CN can afford good old hand-drawn for they're Cartoon Cartoons, which are also rating killers, so there's a good chance of new FG in the traditional style, too.
That's my two cents, just saying that new FG episodes will have to go through a ton, so if they do decide on them, get an Extra-Large package of patience, because you'll be waiting a long, long time...

I see someone's never heard of Swift3D.
I talked with one of FG's storyboarders and we agreed that FG would be ridiculously easy to do in Flash. Almost 80% of the animation is the same poses. You could archive them in a library and reuse them, saving tons of money, and the show would only have to go overseas for certain cutaways and parodies.
It's exactly what Home Movies does, and yes, the process works for ANY style, Family Guy's included.
I don't think Flash should be used for everything, but for Family Guy it works especially well. Plus the use of 3D was only in that one episode. It was a season premiere after all.

FOX scrambled to get new writers...wha? Season 3 and 2 had many of the same writers (Mark Hentemann, Alex Borstein, Neil Goldman, Chris Sheridan, etc.), and some people will differ on your opinion that season 3 isn't as good as the others. first off, the LA animation business is a small small world, and even if a show were to be brought back from the dead, they could probably gather back about 85% of the staff, because writers and artists are always looking for more work. Seth MacFarlane said he'd be willing to go back, and David Zuckerman's career isn't exactly skyrocketing. since the show was produced at FOX Animation Studios, they'd probably have to relocate to Cartoon Network Studios though.

True that. Being a phenomenally mediocre Flash user with a limited amount of time on my hands (okay, fine, I'm just lazy), I can vouch for that. I managed to complete an entire 10-minute episode within less than 2 weeks, by using mostly recycled animation. And it still looks pretty darn good, IMO. :)

Good points. I just really hope that CN would handle it well. Eh, they did the same for Home Movies...you know what, screw my posts up there, don't mind them at all...
this is awesome, considering were getting into sweeps week area. A good sweeps ratings would help sure up some advertising

seems to be a little. i noticed some advertising changes, like....
- The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (FOX Film Corporation)
- Starbucks
- Quaker State
maybe a couple others.
i think it's safe to say 1-800-Collect will be with AS til the end of time.

Perhaps, but at least AS does something with 1-800-Collect Commericals no other network does: Make they're own to spoof them. And if these spoofs continue to air alongside the real commericals, that's okay for me.

actually, those commercials aren't spoofs or parodies - they are actual paid commercial spots.
as far as the topic of this thread goes, it would be amazing for CN to get new episodes in production. could it happen, sure! the parent company could sweeten the deal with movie rights or something. will it happen? only time will tell...

i don't believe they'd have to buy the property from FOX. a company can own a show and have it financed and aired by another network. for example, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are both the property of FOX, but are aired by other networks. FOX and WB alone produce many shows for other networks. it'd also be nice because FOX could continue distributing the season sets (they do excellent DVD sets). i'd hate to see Family Guy fall into Warner Bros. hands. >.<
of course they'd have to use a new animation studio. FOX Television Animation was phased out. they could probably get some space at Cartoon Network Studios. last I heard they weren't exactly full.
