People are wondering why CN is skipping episodes XXXVII and XXXVIII. Wonder no longer! Here are episode summaries up to XLI.

XXXVI - Jack, The Monks, And The Ancient Master's Son

Jack falls into a hidden temple sanctuary and discovers a group of monks trained, like him, in the style of the Ancient Master. The Ancient Master's son tells Jack of a portal that could send him home, but using the portal comes with a heavy price.

XXXVII - Origins, Pt. 1 (not official title)

Ancient gods try to destroy a powerful monster capable of destroying the entire universe. During the battle, a piece of it goes flying towards Earth, signalling the beginning of an evil force, the likes of which have never been seen before.

XXXVIII - Origins, Pt. 2

As the evil force spreads across the planet, a brave emperor answers the call to stop it, but only manages to do more harm, unleashing the pure, ultimate evil: AKU.

XXXIX - Jack and the Labyrinth

Jack makes his way through a dangerous maze to find a mysterious box. However, he is not alone, as two theives are racing through the labyrinth themselves.

XL - Samurai Vs. Samurai

Aku sends a ninja to battle Samurai Jack while he is helping a port town in distress.

XLI - Robo-Samurai vs. Mondo Bot

Jack enters a village that claims he is the Chosen One, destined to embody the Robo-Samurai and defeat the evil Mondo Bot sent to destroy the citizens.

XLII - The Aku Infection

During a battle between Aku and Samurai Jack, Aku sneezes, giving Jack an infection that slowly turns him evil.

Basically what this means is that CN is waiting to premiere XXXVII and XXXVIII as an hour-long special.

"Samurai Jack" and "plot" do not belong in the same sentence.

Having seen recent episodes, I would challenge that.

I haven't been watching lately. :p I'm guessing I should?

Yeah, the new episodes have been pretty great so far, and these premises only make me want to watch them more. While Samurai Jack may not have the most complex plots (Gendy T. ((The Creator)) wanted the plots to be simple so the action would flow better) it still has some pretty intresting turns throught it's run, and these episodes seem to deilver on that, espically the Origin of AKU episodes and the one where Jack slowly becomes evil.

All in all, it seems we'll be in for some good adventures, except XXXIX and XLI...those are just odd. O_o;

Samurai Jack has a plot? I think you jest Matt Wilson. The recent episodes have still been very weak, further showing the lack of willingness on the staff to put any effort into the plot.

Plot normally isn't the point of the series. Samurai Jack tends to focus on visuals and action. Recent episodes have been quite strong, and demonstrate that the staff knows what it is doing.

Thanks, Matt! You're ace!

Yeah, in Samurai Jack, a strong plot is sort of a nice bonus. Fans appreciate it when we get it, but we don't expect it. Strong visuals, great action, good music--that's more the aim of the series.

It's hard to have a deep, complex plot when you're trying to grasp the interest of a large age range. For example, 7 and 8 year-olds would love battling with Samurai Jack action figures and dressing up as him for Halloween, where as teenagers would appreciate the art, music and other visual effects.

Thanks so much, Matt! I'm looking forward to the episodes ahead... to bad they'll probably be some of the last, with the 52 episode contract.

Not 52.......

Yeah that's right. Cartoon Network has bought another Season of Samurai Jack, which is another 52 episodes. So that brings it up to a 104 episode contract, and who knows, if it's still popular or Gendy T still wants to do more, there could even be a third season. Believe me though, that won't happen (if it does) for a LONG while.

That's interesting. Is this the same information that was talked about in an earlier thread (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?threadid=67627)?
Is there anything more online or in print about this? Like a new press release or interview?

Coolness.

i believe the origin episode is titled "The Birth of Evil." as far as the "second 52" is concerned - it's not a GO as far as i've heard. they are currently finishing up production on the initial 52, but GT & crew are working on CW at the moment. they probably won't start anew until later this year... but i could be mistaken :D

There has been no new news about the Live action version of SJ comeing out yet. But from SJ fans the moive will bomb badly.

> But from SJ fans the moive will bomb badly. <

It's *way* too early to predict that.

Particularly since there's always a substancial audience for martial arts flicks- if the SJ movie can snag them, it won't need all the SJ fans.

I wish I could see that. But I wish I knew who was telling Jack about Aku's birth?

I can't wait to see Jack's father as a young man. I bet he is a good-looking guy too :D

Say Matt W., did they have this two episode-parters in UK?

Who says someone tells him about this? I have a feeling it's a stand alone saga that in the beginning says, millions of years ago, or that Aku is retelling his history to himself or someone else.

Thanks Diana. I'll wait and see who tells Jack about Aku's birth or not.
