View Full Version : Comic Book (or movie) Action Figures
Do any of you collect or just buy comic book (or movie) action figures?
I was looking through some stores today and I saw a large amount of movie and cartoon related figures, and I've seen some X men ones before from comic books.
In your opinion... what company does the best overall in making figures that you either enjoy, or like because they're "true" to what they were based off of.
I like McFarlane's figures because they put a LOT of detail into their action figures. Ive seen some impressive figures in catalogues and on the web page, and I really love my X-Files movie figures. Their spawn figures though, wow... tons of detail and work put into them.
Any companies you'd like to have a few words with on making things better?

For Super Hero based toys it's almost a tie. DC Direct and Toy Biz are the two best in my opinion. DC's character sculpts look better, but Toy Biz does a better job with articulation.
For Sci-Fi based toys, Art Asylumn's new Classic Star Trek Line may be the single best toy line out there.

Yes, I forgot about Toy Biz. I have a ton of figures from X Men's first film, and they did a really good job with some (though the storm fig was iffy--) I did like Rogue, and Wolverine. I was impressed with the expression on Wolverine's face!
I will have to check out some of my other figures to see where theyre from.

One word: SPAWN! I love Spawn and it was the very first toys that brought me into the wonderful world of Spawn and I continue to buy Spawn action figures that I like even though I don't play with them, a lot of them are more like statues. I've heard of many people buying Spawn toys not knowing much if anything about the character then coming on the Spawn boards on Spawn.com wanting to know about him and wanting to get into the comic. I recommend both the Spawn toys and comics.

Being the normal boy child, I used to play with action figures non stop. Since I grew up in a comic-oriented household, needless to say those were the figures. I guess I never passed that. While I don't actually play with them anymore, if I see one I like, I pick it up, open it (of course), and adorn my room with them.
I must have about 5 tubs of old figures. Mostly Toy Biz X-Men ones, before they did the cartoon and based mainly on the comics. Those and Batman: The Animated Series ones. Since they're so used and torn, I don't really display them, which sucks because Toy Biz did some fantastic toys with the initial X-Men line.
aww man, I dont have a comic shop.
If I get lucky, I see some figures in Spencers or in the toy store, but thats a rarity.
I have a bunch of X Men white queen figures I use to make custom Agent Elles LOL (runs and hides).
I actually went into suncoast today and saw some very nice "Ultra Detail Figures" from Planet of the Apes. Theyre from the Medicom toy corp and I bought Zira and it's AMAZING. Not much movement, LOL just the head and hands but otherwise amazing.
I cant imagine how companies can make amazing figures with mass production. It BOGGLES me!

I really like what Revoltech has been putting out for their movie Action figures. Can't wait to pick up the Iron Man IV figure by them. I really like the Medicom VCD disney lines they've been putting out also. Just recently picked up the "worm turns" and it looks pretty awesome!
