I was wondering, does anyone have any screenshots of the new Harveytoon opening made for the latest syndicated show from when it aired on Fox Family? I'm curious as to what the updated version looks like, and don't have Boomerang.

The syndicated HARVEYTOONS SHOW opening was basically clips reused from the cartoons, and a new shot of all the main characters with the Harvey Jack-in-the-Box. I don't have a picture, but if memory serves correct, there were:

Casper, Baby Huey, Herman, Katnip, Buzzy, Wendy, Little Audrey, Spooky, Tommy Tortoise, and Moe Hare

I'll try and make a picture some time this week!

The newer opening of the Harveytoons also had confetti and Buzzy has always been in the new and original opening titles...

And Thad...Is that you in that pic????

While making these images, it reminded me of a question I've had forever. In the original Harveytoon opening, for cartoons without a major star for a main character, there was a second card in the opening (after the one with the jack-in-the-box):

Ok, there's Spooky, Moe Hare, Buzzy, Tommy Tortoise, Inchy the Worm, and Wendy. The question: Who's that black kitten??

I think the black kitten is 'Lucky' from Casper's "Frightday the 13th", but I'm not too sure...

Very cool images Thad, the original Harveytoons opening and closing were always much better than the more recent ones, as the newer verison, did not include screen credits(where the originals did) and the end of the picture just faded rather quickly.I do hope that the original early 60s Harveytoons will be the version that Boomerang will air.

I've seen very few of these cartoons, and I'm totally unfamiliar with the Moe Hare character. He looks kinda like a Bugs Bunny sort of character. What's he like?

I'm so sorry Jon, as I thought that was Thad that put up those images. And Rodney, Moe Hare was a minor Famous Studio character that was teamed up with Tommy Tortoise in four cartoon shorts, produced between 1953 and 1957.

I know Nelson won't like me saying this (:p), but Moe Hare was pretty much a rip-off of Bugs. Same Brooklyn accent, a wise-acre, etc. But the cartoons themselves were pretty funny, particularly "Mr. Money Gags", which has a neat design VERY similar to UPA.

Thad, I totally agree with you that Moe is a rip-off of Bugs, but the cartoons are pretty funny and I totally agree with you Thad that "Mr.Money Gags" is well animated, in the same style of the UPA cartoons. But my all time favorite is "Winner By A Hare".

Slightly OT: Would any of you folks know whether Moe Hare and Tommy Tortoise also appeared in any of the Harvey Comics? (Besides the Casper cavalcade of series, Mrs. Geezil has fond memories of the ones starring Hot Stuff and Little Dot, while I wish I still owned the Harvey issues of Mutt & Jeff, Felix the Cat, and Little Max(!) that first got me hooked on comics of any type, but neither of us can recall if Moe and Tommy ever had their day as supporting features in any of those titles. Thanks as always.

Geezil my dear friend, but Moe Hare & Tommy Tortoise has never appeared in the comic books alongside their Paramount aka Harveytoons counterparts, which was a shame.

Thanks for posting those images, Jon. It's actually not too different, which is a bit of a surprise. I think it would have neat if they rotoscoped the original Noveltoon opening in an effort to make the titles look more authentic and match the rest of the original titles...

I like a few of these, but like many others they're by & large not really my faves..esp.One-shots. (I do like Stork Raving Mad,maybe..)

BTW Pepe LePew had his visual and character rip off, Total TV's Odie Cologne, voiced by Allen Swift, in KING LEONARDO,1960-1963,retitled KING AND ODIE in 1963.

Daffy's earlier self was ripped off (the scvrewy One),the difference ws Mel Blanc did the voice as he did for Daffy,in Hanna-Barbera's YOGI BEAR GALAXY GOOF UPS-as Quack Up.(Pretty good though, imho)
There were many other Warner Bros.cartoon ripoffs, but at least different animals were used-Warner Bros.'s own ripoff Rapid Rabbit, and Hanna-Barbera's CB BEARS supporting segment "Blastoff Buzzard",just to use some Raodrunner examples.(Those at least used different kinds of cirtters)

Geez! I wonder that I seen this since I was in my young days at PS 154 in Brookyn, NY. I saw the Harveytoon closings for Casper's "Boo Moon". A weird opening featured a Paramount logo as seen here.

Then, "Crazytown" has a Harveytoon opening and closing and seen above except the characters has the name "HARVEYTOON"

A cartoon does not have a Harvey opening, it was replaced with a Terrytoon in the 3rd cartoon.

And last but not least. A Harvey opening as also seen above featured "Seapreme Court" with Little Audrey. Where the heck is the original card as seen here.

That's was one of my moments that back in school a long time ago while every class student are watching during poor weather conditions.

I forgot one thing, the Harveytoon program is shown above is from Fox/ABC Family. That I saw this one from USA back on Christmas where the movie had extra amount of time. The movie was called "Casper's Haunted Christmas" includes a Casper cartoon at the end. That was a Kodak moment!
