Surprisingly, the Harvey site is still up, and they have a showcase of complete shorts, or clips! Click here (http://www.harvey.com/PlainHTML/toons/) to see for your self!

Whoa! Bookmark that, add to webpage later! Thanks Thad!:D

Unfortunately, I just noticed a problem with my computer's video today, so I dunno when I'll be able to see these. Still, I'll download and save 'em.

I remember that site. The Richie Rich cartoon is a web cartoon, though. It's not a theatrical one. Other than that, the cartoons and clips are pretty good.

Unfortunately, you have to watch these live, not download them.:(

Hmm. And for some reason my computer isn't playing them although I fixed the video problem. It opens up another window but nothing loads.

I was wondering why it said "Toon Downloads" and then it didn't open up the downloading window. Oh well.

I was just going around through that Harvey site (I imagine it won't be there much longer). You know, maybe it was a good thing Harvey got bought out... it saved the world from witnessing THE BABY HUEY SHOW (http://www.harvey.com/PlainHTML/tvshows/huey.html).

Actually, my 7-Eleven (believe it or else) has about 50 million copies of Baby Huey's Easter Egg Hunt. Blech. I love the classic Baby Huey shorts ("Duh-gee, he play good!"), but that went to my limit. It's too bad FOX FAMILY had to cancel The Harveytoons Show. I guess nobody wants FAMILY to cancel endless reruns of "Two of a Kind" or "Step by Step"...

There's this Baby Huey cartoon I love but I always forget the title. It's the one when he gets kicked out of kindergarten and he gets a tutor.

"Pest Pupil" (1956 -- Dave Tendlar dir.)

The Baby Hueys like this one and the others where he pesters his father a la Chuck Jones' Junior Bear are the ones that hold up the best in the series. The other ones where all the other ducks shun Huey until he defeats the fox, suffer from the usual early-to-mid-50s Paramount/Famous repitition.

But it didn't happen soon enough to prevent the other "The Baby Huey Show" from being made. ("Aren't you gonna come in Poppa? The water's nice and WARM now!")

In Thad's URL's above, you have to change the www.harvey.com to http://65.125.145.17/harvey and it should work fine. Swab The Duck is the only one that doesn't want to work.

No, I'm trying to avoid too much sugar. I'm afraid if I watched Harveytoons instead of Looneytoons(sic) or Merrie Melodies or Scooobytoons I'll have too much sugar :D

(No offense, of course!:D)

I got a "can't find URL" thing that limited me.

Hmmm- it always interests me that sites made up to popularize classic cartoon characters don't always get the facts right, remember the thread we had about "cartoon misconceptions that really tick you off".? In the character profile for "Little Dot" it states:

"Since 1953, she's never been seen without her polka dotted dress."

But I have one of the classic comic books from the late 50s where the title has been crossed out and rewitten as "Little Dorothy" and contains a story where she dons a plain dress sans dots and goes about her daily activites without any special attention given to her dots (the story focuses more on her parents thinking that "now their little girl is growing up.... if only she loved dots again... here, give her this <dot-oriented item>...") Yes, I know it's nit-picking a little bit, but I found this issue remained quite memorable in my lifetime of reading these comic books. http://members.rogers.com/kitty_face/images/DotSmilie.gif

Are you referring to the John K/Spumco version? That was kind of funny in places, but only if you're watching it keeping in mind what those guys think is humour  ....

"Actually, my 7-Eleven (believe it or else) has about 50 million copies of Baby Huey's Easter Egg Hunt. Blech."

Bleecchhhhh is right. You know, I avoid that thing like the plague- but I read somewhere that there's a live-action Little Lotta in it someplace. Although I'd really like to see how she was presented (mostly wondering what they did with the non-PC, non-socio-acceptible, self-indulgent, ultra-violent, pro-obesity, unacceptible role model values for girls that Lotta stands for), I can't bring myself to wasting even two seconds of my time watching it to see that. Has anyone ever ventured far enough into it to find her out, and is willing to provide a screen cap for me to get a glimpse?

Nope, I was referring to something much, much, much, much worse than that. The Baby Huey Show was a television series that Harvey had in development before the sale to Classic Media. It was a preschool-oriented show (a la "Blues Clues") that was going featuring a live-action Huey. It was going to take place at Huey's daycare center and mix in some live-action kids and CGI effects and all sorts of other fun stuff. :o

The show was apparently canned after Harvey was bought out by Classic Media. Harvey also had a new hip, animated series based on Wendy the Witch in the works, too (featuring a very ugly redesigned Wendy). I believe that was also halted. Thank goodness...

[edit- The character designs for the proposed series appeared in a Wendy videogame. The site is still online: http://www.wendygame.com/index2.asp ]
