Our recent mentions of "Daffy Duck And Porky Pig Meet the Groovie Ghoulies" brings to my warped little gray-matter this... The one thing that goes consistently RIGHT with "DDAPPMTHGG" is the Mel Blanc voiced soundtrack (despite wrong speeds on a couple voices) [this is NOT lambasting the elements of the script which are good, or the good work of some individual animators stuck in a bad place at a bad time]. But fifteen years before "DDAPP..." a similar set of circumstances caused the creation of another monstrosity (or rather series of monstrosities)... I speak of the Little Golden Records NOT voiced by the great Mel Blanc. But that a fair percent of the time were written by our dearly beloved Warner-inmates Warren Foster and Tedd Pierce... As such these often featured a fair amount of genuine wit and clever lyrics.
Thus for your drinking and dining enjoyment :p :bosko: I forthwith reproduce the exact lyrics of the Little Golden Records version of a certain theme song, "Merrily We Roll Along", but which had lyrics almost entirely rewritten from those originally penned by Cantor-Tobias-Mencher (and the record label neatly fails to credit anyone for the modified words...). Read these lyrics and imagine them being horribly sung by somebody pretending to be Mel Blanc (I still nominate poor Dave Barry)
Here's lookin' at you kid...;)
Merrily We Roll Along
by Cantor-Tobias-Mencher
Merrily we roll along so happy and free...
Ehhhhh what's up doc I'm Bugs Bunny that's me!
I'm the greatest cat Sylvester I'm gonna try
to catch that little bird whose name is Tweety Pie
I'm Henery Hawk, I like talking, I like to say WHEWWWWWW...
I'm the little skunky known as Pepe Le Pew
I'm P-P-P-P-P-Porky P-P-P-P-Pig--- What a song
As we merrily roll along!
I'm Elmer Fudd and I'm known as a wabbit hunting fool
I miss my mark at shooting but my marks are good at school.
I'm Foghorn Leghorn I'm the boss that no one dares defy
If any chicks deny and you'll see the feathers fly.
I'm your little friend called Tweety and l'd like to add
Though I'm just a tiny bird don't ever get me MAD!!!
Woo hoo hoo hoo hoo I'm the Daffiest Duck in town!!!
I'm Yosemite Sam, bang bang, you're dead lay down!
Merrily we roll along goodbye for awhile
Don't forget to be happy, don't forget how to smile
Merrily yes merrily as we sing this song
As we merrily roll along!!!
Imagine a Bugs Bunny and a Porky Pig who sound like the fox from the Yacky Doodle cartoons, a Sylvester who sounds like a domineering wife, a Henery who doesn't sound anything remotely like Henery, and a Yosemite Sam who just sounds like an old fogey, and you'll have an idea of what this song is like. If it weren't for the characters all saying thier names, it'd be hard to tell who was singing the song. It's so bad it's funny.

Thanks Jon (and Jack) for the audio (I had started to ask you to post an audio link with the lyrics). Like I hinted at before, the lyrics (most often by Foster & Pierce) are usually the main saving grace of these odd varmints, but then sometimes not...
I THINK "Porky Pig And Petunia Pig" represents the complete and absolute nadir of the Warner/Little Golden Records... (It makes you wonder what in heavens name were Warren Foster & Tedd Pierce thinking or drinking when they scribbled that mind rotter??? And THEN came the recording...Eeeeesh!!!) Buuuuuuut I'm still missing some tracks, including one ominously entitled (and I'm NOT making this up) 'Porky "Piggeldy Wiggeldy" Pig'... I'm ummmm not holding out great hopes for fine (or even good) lyrics on that one...

Don't forget the non-lyric version of "Merrily We Roll Along", with Porky Pig's gay cousin at the end of it...
Lyrics to Porky and Petunia (in case you either can't listen to audio files, or can't tell who singing :p )
Man:
Porky met a little girl, Petunia is her name
Since he met Petunia Pig, he hasn't been the same
He carries her books to school but doesn't think it's funny
When the others all poke fun at him like Daffy and Bugs Bunny!
Bugs: Porky's got a sweetheart, Porky's got a goil
Daffy: And since he met Petunia Pig, he's nutty as sthquirrel!
Bugs: Petunia's got a boyfriend, Petunia's got a feller
Daffy: And when it rains she always makes him hold her umbereller
Porky: Oh you crazy Daffy Duck
Petunia: You too, you fresh Bugs Bunny
You're always poking fun at us, and we don't think it's funny
Bugs: Porky's got a sweetheart, Porky's got a goil
Daffy: He's Petunia's oyster, and Petunia's Porky's poil
Bugs and Daffy: And Petunia's Porky's Poil!
Don't forget the non-lyric version of "Merrily We Roll Along", with Porky Pig's gay cousin at the end of it...
Shhhhhh, quiet, Thad. WB doesn't want people to know about Porky's cousin.

Go back and look for Jon's post, he uploaded the song to one of his folders so people could listen to it (it's a recording from a record of mine).

Hehehe, Thad was just joking. I am amused at how people took it seriously. There is another "Merrily We Roll Along" Golden Record and it ends with a non-Mel Porky saying "Th-th-That's all, Folks." The thing is, it sounds NOTHING like Porky Pig. As a joke, we referred to him as Porky's cousin. :p
Maybe I'll upload the other clip tonight. If anybody wants to actually listen to another one of these things.

Jon~
I started to transcribe the lyrics to what is literally labelled as "Merrily We Roll Along" Part 2 yesterday, but the lyrics are so nothing it just seemed a complete waste of effort. We should probably explain that the original Little Golden Records were indeed little, only 6" (and on yellow vinyl) but race through at the old, old standard 78 rpm, thus each side is very short. The entire "Merrily...Part 1 and Part 2" would fit on a conventional 45 record. Sooooo it seems that someone at the parent company of Little Golden was just not wanting to pay for another new Looney Tunes song on side 2.
Just Jon and Jack PLEASE DON'T put the other mind-rotter (besides "Porky Pig And Petunia Pig") up... I'm speaking of the LGR horror "What's Up Doc?" (Part 1 and Part 2). This audio abomination is definitely not to be confused with the WB cartoon or song... I don't want to feel even faintly responsible for reports of people going deaf, or stark raving mad, or attempting hari-kari...;)
