I saw the Onstar Riddler commercial last night. I like the series. It's like trailers for the film series as it might have been had Burton left after 'Batman' (he was supposedly ambivalent about doing a sequel). The ads seem most influenced, design-wise, by the first film, but with a more conventional, big Hollywood-action-adventure feel (as opposed to the more idiosyncratic turn Burton took in 'Returns').
I can imagine, say, Burton turning down the sequel in 1990 and Warners asking Richard Donner, who had done 'Superman' and 'Lethal Weapon' for the studio, to take over the franchise. With Keaton departing along with Burton, Donner picks a more conventional Bruce Wayne-type in Mel Gibson (hot off 'Lethal Weapon' with Donner) or Alec Baldwin (hot off 'Hunt For Red October') and -presto!- the OnStar Batman commercials.
Anyway, I like 'em. I wish I could get them on tape.

If you have a decent connection, you can download 3 of the commercials. I don't see the other 2 (or was it 3..) up yet though..

yeah, I enjoy them too...I haven't seen the Riddler one yet....hope to soon though...

Darn, I missed the Riddler one. I hope they air it more often. When they showed the most recent one during the awards show, that was the only time I saw it on TV (the one with Vikki Vail). Thank goodness for the internet and for Onstar for catering to us Bat fans.

Nass- thanks for the mention on the news page!
I wish I could offer a lot of detail about the commercial, but it caught me by surprise. Batman breaks up a robbery by the Riddler and two thugs inside a vault. Riddler wears a pretty-much classic costume, with a purple belt-girdle-thing like Frank Gorshin used to wear. He does some mugging that's more Carrey than Gorshin.
I caught the commercial during 'Nightline' on ABC. Ford seems to advertise pretty consistently on that program. I'm thinking of setting my VCR to tape the show this week in the hope of catching it.

it's not on onstar.com right now, but they have a "Currently unavailible" thing. So, maybe somtime in the future...

I love the OnStar commercials..it'd rock if they released those and
"Gotham Girls" on ONE DVD... I mean..they're so short...they could! :)

I saw one with Commisioner Gordon talking to Batman in a speaker in the Batmobile, is this one new too or did I miss it?

ermm..I think it might be old..? I'm not sure. I know there was one, when it was JUST batman, in the batmobile, then he ejects out of it. Maybe that's it?

Or maybe it's a new one..

I'm not sure if that ejecting part was in it, but yeah I remember the Commissioner one. That one's old. I forgot which one it was, but I know the only new ones (new and therefore unavailable from the net, albeit just for now of course) is the Riddler one, which I haven't see yet.

BUT I got the other three. I think one of em needs to be downloaded again though. It stopped when it was only like 90% done. My school's connection has been acting up lately. Now my thoughts about their news of a T3 connection coming next month are kind of skeptical. :p

So what is everyone's opinions on these commercials? And why the hell does Batman still have nipples??

Well, i rather like the commercials. I think they're a little wacky, and not as dark as i like my Batman, but it's still good to see him on TV. So, yeah, they're pretty darn enjoyable.

And as for the nipples, i tell ya all he has to do is turn the A.C. down in the batmobile a little, and problem solved:p
