View Full Version : CN Summer Schedule

Killtacular
04-24-2003, 10:08 AM
Beginning May 19th

Looney Tune fans will be utterly PISSED OFF at the total lack of LTs from Monday - Friday. I can't say anything in CN's defense. It's a foolish move they've made.

I HATE CTN!!!!

How dare they remove the late-night Bommerange block for Cartoon Cartoons. We get enough of that malarkey during the daytime, why turn it into overkill by using it to replace vintage animation?!

This schedule is only for June though. Plus, it's still a while away, so I think they'll change stuff around before then.

Great! A perfect oppurtunity to bombard Phil Kent with hate mail and letter bombs.

AAAGGGGHHHH! What happenned to the late night weekend Boomerang and Boomeraction blocks? I was enjoying watching the old school shows. I also don't like the recent cutback of Boomerang on Saturday mornings. I usually catch the 7-8 portion of Boomerang but recently they replaced it with CKND. What's going to happen to those old school Hanna Barbara fans? Just when they started expanding the years into the 80's in the last year or so. Ideally, Boomerang would be on Sundays from 8-12 so viewers could get a real sense of what was on the air from year to year instead of a small two hour sample and the cutting up of the various block shows (Scooby's All-Stars, Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show, etc.).

The disappearance of the Hanna Barbara old school on Cartoon Network is very disappointing.

Well, Yu Yu Hakusho is on SVES, guess it was only a matter of time. EEnE to lead in to Toonami? Cool. Chan gets put with JL and Evo which is more convenient. Adult Swim is better too, assuming those Lupins are new.

Transformers: Armada is on at 11?!?

Yeah, I'm as shocked as you are.

However, I'm thrilled that Time Squad is on at five in the morning. Being an early bird, I can catch it (or at least my VCR can). I don't give a damn if it's all reruns and it's cancelled. I'm past caring at this point and I love the show so much, I'll watch the reruns if I have to.

But I am a little upset about the Looney Tunes, but come on. No offense to anyone, but after seeing LT cartoons hundreds of times during my life, I'm ready to quit.

..yeah, that's a GREAT way for him to judge CN's future potential.. by showing him how crazy and unstable the fans are.

And how.

I also want to add that I'm so happy Batman: TAS is coming back and Samurai Jack is coming back with new episodes. I agree about the overkill of Cartoon Cartoons, but at least I'll get to see some of my faves like Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Time Squad, Cow and Chicken, and Johnny Bravo, so I guess it's a mixed blessing.

They replaced the Boomerang and Boomeraction blocks with Cartoon Cartoons and repeats of classic cartoons. The only classic cartoons on weekdays are Tom and Jerry. Those are both bad changes.

However, they've brought back Bugs and Daffy. Now perhaps they could air it at a DECENT TIME?!

They are not really bringing back Bugs and Daffy. I heard that it will just be a partial repeat of the Looney Tunes Show, but under a different name.

Um... this is sad. Once I'm done watching Futurama and possibly Family Guy the rest of the current set of Inu Yasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, and all of Trigun then CN will have but one thing to offer me. .hack//SIGN and they'll probably put it in reruns again for a while. They even cut off the old action cartoons after SVES... That's a drag. I guess they don't want so much action/adventure on CN in the summer. That sucks... oh well.

Ideas for CN this summer...

Toonami:
- Bring back Gundam Wing (replace G Gundam) or another Gundam series
- Get more Yu Yu Hakusho
- Finish editing Kenshin

SVES:
- Get some different stuff/new stuff I don't know what but something
- Aquire Super Mario Bros. and other video game cartoons
- Put Kenshin or Gundam Wing after .hack//SIGN
- Aquire some ADV properites like Dai-Guard and Wild Arms TV

In General:
- Aquire the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- Put Dragonball somewhere and show the last "season"
- Put Sailor Moon somewhere
- Aquire Samurai Pizza Cats
- Aquire the original Transformers
- Only air one episode of Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries a day...
- Start and old skool action block
- Start a Teen block
- Make the times of certain shows more consistant (Hamtaro, Pokemon, Jackie Chan, etc.)
- Give GI-Joe a decent time slot

CCF:
- I have no hope for this block... so screw it... CN already has

Adult Swim:
- Get more Inu Yasha
- Get something from ADV
- Expand an hour
- Aquire Homestar Runner (hey I can dream)
- Aquire Love Hina (I can dream big)
- Air the Big O 2 already...

I wish I owned CN... Then I could make these kinds of changes.

No problems here. except i fear the underrated Sheep in the Big City will never get another timeslot (Why oh why did my sister stop the tape Saturday night when i wanted to record SITBC when it was on for the last day..)

Geez, I would much rather have Boomerang than more Cartoon Cartoons.

I like the pseudo-kids block they're putting on in the morning and partially in the afternoon.

The primetime block looks more organized with all of the CCs grouped together, while moving Pokémon and JCA as more lead-in to Adult Swim.

New Lupin III episodes!

Very interesting how they put Hamtaro and Sitting Ducks after the He-Man/Transformers hour on Saturday.

The time changes on SVES make no sense. I see no need to have G Gundam and YYH on the block, but Superman: TAS and Batman: TAS more than makes up for it.

I would rather have Cartoon Theater Sunday afternoon than in the morning. I would think it would get more viewers, since most kids would probably be at church.

New episodes of ASC shows = :). I don't know why they decided to add CB and Trigun to the block, though. Monday-Thursday is enough for me.

Yeah, but it had a decent time slot on SVES for a show that's trying to sell toys. Most little kids aren't going to stay up until 11 to watch it.

And before anyone says "Yu Yu Hakusho got great ratings with kids on Saturdays", that was only for its time period. And it wasn't trying to sell toys back then.

CN you dissapoint me... again...

Here's "my" fantasy schedule of CN from 2pm-whenever this summer:
2.0 - Freakazoid
2.5 - Animaniacs! (get it back already CN it's on Nick Toons TV!)
3.0 - Hamtaro
3.5 - Super Mario Bros. (it's classic!)
--- A little girl power before Toonami ---
4.0 - Card Captors
4.5 - Sailor Moon
--- Make Toonami 3 hours again ---
5.0 - Zoids or something else
5.5 - Dragonball Z (from the begining or the Andriod Saga)
6.0 - Yu Yu Hakusho (new episodes)
6.5 - Rurouni Kenshin (new episodes)
7.0 - Inu-Yasha (cut obviously)
7.5 - Gundam Wing (bringing back the boys)
--- prime time ---
8.0 - Pokemon
8.5 - Jackie Chan Adventures
9.0 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
9.5 - Earthworm Jim (I know... I can dream Time Squad would be okay as well)
10.0 - X-Men: Evolution
10.5 - Samurai Jack (better for reruns than Justice League IMO)
--- expand ADULT SWIM ---
11.0 - Futurama
11.5 - Family Guy
12.0 - Love Hina
12.5 - Inu-Yasha (new episodes)
01.0 - Yu Yu Hakusho (uncut premieres)
01.5 - Rurouni Kenshin (uncut premieres)
02.0 - Trigun or Lupin the 3rd
02.5 - Cowboy Bebop (it ain't AS without CB)
03.0 ---------- Put whatever you want CN I don't care!

It's not perfect but it's much more watchable than what CN has planned... I think airing all three of IY, YYH, RK on Toonami and Adult Swim would be okay for the summer. Not much happens anyway. Some will argue otherwise though and they have their reasons. KWB shouldn't cry about the after schedule either so it wouldn't be a problem. Expanding AS and Toonami would be great for CN. They can air all the Cartoon Cartoons in the morning-early afternoon.

Oh and I'd put Mobile Suit Gundam in the morning where Transformers: Armada is. Just so it could get a full run.

Lord Megatron

Transformers: Armada is on at 11?!? WTCHOP!?!?!?

I'm surprised too.

Well from what I have heard that the last new ep for Armada, Crisis, is the beginning of "The Unicron Battes" since we know that the last 13 eps are titled that. So maybe it was switched to that time because it is a more mature story line starting?

I don't really know I'm just guessing on that.

Does anybody have any clue when Nick will lose the rights to Animaniacs, Pinky and The Brain, and Tiny Toons?

Jeff Harris

Guess CN's trying to appease those soccer moms who want to plant their kids in front of the screen to watch something wholesome, or in CN's case, a facsimile. It also seems that they're trying to push Boomerang to cable outlets a lot more. Either that or they're proving that they really, really hate Hanna-Barbera cartoons that aren't Tom and Jerry or Scooby-Doo (I'll be the first to ask on this board, "Where the SLAG are The Flintstones?"). Heck, I'm wondering why the powers that be at AOL Time Warner aren't trying to preserve the original Hanna-Barbera studio at Cahuenga Blvd., which is destined to be razed for more stores and apartments.

Lord Megatron

I've got a question and hope someone can answer that knows this.

Why is Armada on at 11pm EST starting May 19? Is this to make it for a more mature auidience? Or is Armada not doing so well? I know this can still change but why the switch to so late at night?

Andrew T. Hingson

I'm starting to hate Cartoon Network again. They were doing pritty good for a while and know look...

-No Mobile Suite Gundam
-No Kyoto arc for kenshin
-No Gundam Wing
-No Zoids
-No Dragon Ball
-More Dragon Ball Z reruns. (I like the show, but enough allready)
-More Cartoon Cartoons than ever (Thats a Bad thing)
-Little to no classic Cartoons (Lonney Toons, Flintstones,Etc)
-No Space Ghost Cost 2 Cost.
-No second episode of Pokemon

Now the good things..

-More Hamtaro
-Yu Yu Hakusho is on SVES. Wich means the opening gets aired.
-We've still got .Hack//Sign
-New Lupin The third.
-Cowboy bebop & trigun on sundays
-Baby Blues is back.

Thats all the good I can think of. I loved this channel when I first got it. It had so much great stuff on it. All the flintstones & jetsons I could want, Birdman, Moxey(anyone remember that), G-force, and others. Then Space ghost C2C aired and I loved it. Then Toonami came and introduced me to anime. Just a little after this the Cartoon Cartoon came and invaded the network. I was okay with this for a while but it just got worse when they aired scobey doo every two hours. At that time I called the network "The scobey Doo and Cartoon Cartoon network"
I've been dissapointed with them for a long time. I was just now getting over it with all the great stuff they announced, but now I have few reasons to watch this network.

SGC2C has a timeslot of 12:15 on Sunday nights during Adult Swim on this schedule. I'd say that I hate the fact it's interfering with Dilbert at midnight on Comedy Central, but CC airs Dilbert again later in the week. ;)

Shouldn't .hack/Sign by on at 8:30 after Samurai Jack on Saturdays, since the 8-9 block is the time for shows with new episodes? There's nothing on that show that I've seen that justifies the late hour.

I'm also surprised they didn't start the Dragonball reruns with the second tournament arc, since it has a defined and a relatively short beginning, middle, and end (and what cliffhanger). I'm also surprised that they didn't air the last 15 episodes of Dragonball Z on SVES (not everyone could see it during the Toonami run).

Now that you mentioned it, I don't see the Flinstones on the schedule. Hopefully they will rectify the mistakes of the schedule later in the summer or in the fall (although I think it would probably be more of the same).

That's disapointed were Looney Tunes fans this year. None Bugs & Daffy or Looney Tunes Show were seen the weeks :(

So. Starting may 10th, Bugs & Daffy were returned saturday at 4am but are repeats from Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons playing in Looney Tunes Show the previous morning. CN merit to replaced this show per Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show (like these B&D, are just cartoons starring Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird) (listen 4 Bugs or 2 Tweety per show are greatest)

Ok, i not CN and none less Tom & Jerry classic shorts in Canada (i got a video and 3 DVD) but starting may 19th, this show was playing 9 times per weeks and the worst, each show as during 1 hour. Ok i know, he's again popular and are a good choose but he are the limits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And congratulations from CN was playing more adult or action animated series the nights. Since 2 years, CN are really changed and that's a good thing.

But other than that... The schedule SUCKS. I can live with classics getting poor slots, at least they are still on. But gosh, that is a LOT of Cartoon Cartoons. And they need to ditch Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, that show is boring and disgraceful.

The season 1 of Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries was good but the next seasons (#14 - #52) are very ugly background (more ressemblance of Jackie Chan series)

This definately sucks... It just means that I'll have to record Armada before I go to sleep and then watch it in the morning...

Mister Intensity

I think they don't put .hack on at 8:30 because it's not a show most kids would enjoy. They could at least put it at 11pm so more people would be awake while watching it. Watching it at midnight is rather staggering. I hate waiting that long... If they are going to keep it a midnight then the least they could do would give us Toonami midnight run starting with it and going until the oui hours of the morning. A mix of old skool and new skool like the original TMR way back in the day. The more I think about it the more I believe Reboot should be on after .hack//SIGN. It fits the genere pretty well.

Well, about time. Some Eds at a semi decent hour. It's been about 3 months since I looked at them. 7am: On My way to class. 7pm: Still at Work. Fri Night: Social life.
But a drastic change to that. I can see why so many people are upset about the change. It's been the same for about a year now.
Still upset at the treatment of CC's in the last 4 months. Fri was our night, not Scooby's.

That looks like a good block, even if it's a poor time slot. If they could add Acme Hour and Late-Nite B&W to that block, that would be very good.

If they must keep those time slots, this would be better:
2am Late Night Black and White
3am Toonheads
3:30am Popeye Show
4am Bugs and Daffy (NON-REPEAT)
5am Acme Hour

I remember how in the beginning Cartoon Network was nothing but classic animation, then throughout the years they have decreased it more & more. At the rate they are going, there is soon going to come a day where the only place to watch the classic animation is on Boomerang.

Hopefully, should THAT ever happen, it will be available on most, if not all Digital Cable systems and most of the country will be subscribing. And they better not try anything crazy then.

time for the non required "This is what my schedule would be!"

No im not going to do EVERY Time slot. But heres the break down on the comments.

First of all, I like weekday mornings the way it is but it should be Mobile Suit Gundam instead of Max Steel, and Zoids should keep its 6:30 spot. I like Hamtaro, Pokemon, Pecola, and all that stuff where they are. I wouldnt wake up for them. but I know people who would.

Weekday afternoons. Er.. Hamtaro and Sitting Ducks again? Uh.. I know good networks do alot of overplaying. But I think theres room for Sheep in the Big City and Mike Lu and Og, even though they're two awfully but under rated shows. They were on last summer. They can be on again..

Toonami, no comment.

Prime Time. Pokemon is on in the morning. But I guess its okay at night. But Id prefer if Yugioh was on instead.

Adult Swim, no comment.

Late night. GREAT! Seriously, Cartoon Cartoons for me to waste my hours instead of sleeping. Since Summer has me often staying up to 5-6AM. This could help. But maybe since ASA is on. They should stick with ACTION programming after it. Wont bother making a schedule for it of course.

Saturday. Replace one of the Slyvester and Tweety Mysterys with Pecola. it deserves as much overplay as the other shows. Plus i havent seen it yet. So id like it at a convenient time. Because I didnt get to see Sitting Ducks till Saturday. Other than that. 5-7 should have Cartoon Theater.

SVES, no comment

Sunday, agh, more S&TM, good show. But not needing all those airings. Sitting Ducks and Pecola in that back to back timeslot sounds nice. Or something like Samurai Jack and He-man.

AS, no comment again

CC night again. I like it where it is..

Wow, i never done one of these in a while. Now I see why everyone finds it so fun :p
