On habit I changed the channel to THE DAILY SHOW last night at midnight expecting to see a repeat, but was suprised to see a new episode. But far, last night's episode was arguably the best thing on television. Stewarts real and hard emtions during the openiong almost reduced this man to tears. Did anyone see this? If not, I STRONGLY recommend you catch it on rerun. His opening ten minute speech was one of the most brave and powerful things I've seen him do. And his ending lines were just amazing:
"The view out of my apartment used to be the World Trade Center, now it's the Statue of Liberty."
The show will return next week with new episodes, but last night's episode was definatly a great, great episode. After his stirring speech, he said it's now his duty to make us smile, and he did a damn good job.
I recommend anyone with COMEDY CENTRAL to catch this rerun.

I just watched the speech. It was very moving.
EDIT: K, now the episode is over. It was good indeed. I LOVED the Moment of Zen!! I LOVED it! I want one!

when are they going to rerun it? I watched it at 6pm and the episode they air at midnight, but did not see the ten o'clock showing. I wonder why they didn't repeat the new eppy at midnight? I want to see this one.

The new eps. from one night are usually reshown the next night at 7 PM eastern standard time. So it sounds like it would be on today at 6 PM in your time zone.

I did get to see it at last. I realized it was the one shown at midnight last night, but I missed his talk at the beginning and thought it was a rerun cuz of the old clips he showed. I hope next week they have a batch of new clips for us. I also hope everybody from the show is ok.

Man, I wish I could have seen the first part of it. I'd love to hear that speech. Besides, I've always liked Jon Stewart's style of comedy. (Not just because I think he's cute, but that helps. ;) )Even when his jokes fall flat, it's funny because of the way he behaves afterward. But at least I got to see...

Me too, I loved the end too :D If nothing else in the show did it (which I think it did), that ought to bring a smile to almost anyone's face.
