We finaly get to see what this bad boy is looking like. These are scans from the latest EGM and the picture quality isn't great, so they look a little fuzzy. When you get to the main page, click on "whats new".

So what do you think? I was really hoping for a 2d/3d ala Contra Shattered Soldier, but this has potential just for the fact that the SOTN team is heading it up. And CD quality soundtrack too!!!

:( 3D Castlevania makes me sad :(
Fortunately, it looks like it does have a chance of making a good transition to 3D. Though, for the record, I don't think the N64 Castlevanias were awful, they just didn't live up to the other games in the series.

I'm glad it's in 3D. Konami has made three 2D Castlevanias in the last three years. It's cool to see 'em try something new. I say bring it on.

This could be interesting in 3D... depending on how they do it. If it played like Devil May Cry then it could be very cool. Although I will always remember it for the good old 2D days.

Could this be a continuation of the scraped Castlevania Resurrection project from the Dreamcast? Then again the only person who was making that game that had anyrelations to the previous Castlevania's was that he was an artist from Castlevania 3.

I just hope the gameplay is as beautiful, fast-paced, and action packed as Contra:SS or Metal Gear Solid 2. Oh and it doesn't suck like the past 2 on N64.

Well, I'm dissapointed that it's in 3-D, but I have to admit that it still looks cool. Devil May Cry proved that a 3-D action game can work. Rygar showed that a 3-D action game with a whip coud work. I have faith in the development team, and think this will be a good title.

Four words: What the heck happened?!
I'm glad they decided to make it 3-D. I just hope it's good.

I like that it's 3d. No one can say that Konami hasn't been supplying the 2d Castlevania goodness.
I don't think it's related to Resurrection. The camera angles and main characters look different.
I liked the first N64 Castlevania, but it wasn't a triple A title like Symphony of the Night.

I always love the titles they give these games. "Harmony of Dissonance" was one of the coolest titles I had heard in years.

Ditto, the titles give the games such a surreal feel even before you play/buy them. Aria of Sorrow, Harmony Of Dissonance, Circle of The Moon, etc etc..

Harmony of Dissonance was a clunky name. The original Japanese title, White Night Concerto, just flowed so much better. Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow are good names, though. Lament of Innocence also sounds kinda clunky, but what can ya do.
What kinda stinks is that this new Castlevania takes place in the 10th century, which screws up the storyline even more. Apparently, Sonia Belmont's not the first Belmont to have a show down with Dracula now... I'm not sure who this new main character is, but if I were Konami, I'd most definitely make it the Poltergeist King. That guy was mentioned as giving the sacred Vampire Killer whip to Sonia in the Castlevania Legends menu, but he's never been in a game of his own, and no one really knows who the heck he is. Making him the main character of this new game would be a great tribute to Castlevania fans of old.

The pics look pretty cool, although I wasn't completely wowed by them. But, with this type of game, you usually have to see it in motion to really appreciate it. There was a part of the description that has me intrigued:
Discovering the true origins of Castlevania, Dracula and the Belmont Clan are stories that fans have anticipated since the beginning, and now Koji Igarashi and his talented Castlevania team are going to reveal them for the first time.
Just what will they "reveal" about their origins? I'm pretty curious to see what they come up with.
Harmony of Dissonance was a clunky name. The original Japanese title, White Night Concerto, just flowed so much better.
I'll agree White Nigh Concerto sounds much better to the ear, but the meaning behind the name Harmony of Dissonance makes it incredibly cool.

The size of the vampire hunter compared to the rest of the room is very small. The rooms are enormous. I really don't know how good Castlevaina in 3D will be, but I'm personally hoping it resembles Symphony of the Night to a small degree.
Later.
