This is off-topic, but I was watching the Little Rascals short WASHEE IRONEE today on AMC, and there was a Chinese laundryman kid in there. I'm surprised he was even shown, but I think some scenes with him were edited since there's some strange cuts when he's shown. Anyone know for sure if AMC edited something out, and if so, what?

Yes, AMC did edit the scene when tha gang goes to the chinese laundry mat, to get help from the boy and his father.
This is nothing new to me, AMC has been butchering the "Our Gang" shorts since it premeired back in August.VERY SAD!!!:(

You're right, Nelson. Many of the "Our Gang" shorts are pretty much butchered up. I could sit here and name many of the titles, but some like "Fly My Kite", "The Last Round-Up", "Dogs is Dogs" and the afore-mentioned "Washee Ironee" are missing entire scenes! "Washee Ironee" was very a bit difficult to understand.

I also noticed that a few of the early "talkies" such as "Shivering Shakespeare", "Bouncing Babies" and "The First Seven Years" have had extra music added to them. Very strange...

What part is edited? I saw them ask a little Chinese boy for help but never his father.

Many scenes were edited from "Washee Ironee" that are too numerous to print. But the scene in question is when Spanky goes into the Chinese laundry to get the Chinese boy. You do meet his father. Another scene missing is when the Chinese kid adds a pre-wash to Wally's clothes - he takes a big gulp of water, spits its out on Wally's clothes and says to the Gang "washee clothesees, washee clothesees"

Not very P.C., is it?

Why do they censor this but not when the Three Stooges prettend to be 'Jap' soldiers?

Because the shorts in the package that AMC bought from King World were already edited when they got them.

Well, AMC does edit out a scene in the Stooge short SPOOK LOUDER where Mr. Graves asks Curly if he's a "Jap" and Curly overreacts in anger, then Moe calms him down by saying to him, "He meant SAP, not JAP!" However, I don't think AMC did the edit. Maybe the print was already like this when AMC got it. I guess Columbia is to blame.

Yet that afore-mentioned scene in "Spook Louder" is intact on home video, DVD and on the syndicated half-hour "Three Stooges" show. I believe it's an AMC edit myself.

At a Three Stooges forum I post at, it's been said that Columbia might possibly still have edited versions of shorts lying around, and were too careless to check. All the Stooges shorts shown on AMC were to be unedited, yet there's SPOOK LOUDER and several more (like A BIRD IN THE HEAD and MOVIE MANIACS) that are edited. I still blame either Columbia or Comedy III, the same half-wits who pulled 60 shorts from AMC's library at the last minute when they were supposed to have all 190 shorts.

Actually, the short "Uncivil Warriors" had an edit in it, but I heard AMC raised a stink and got a uncut copy. By the way, PorkyandDaffy, what's cut in "Bird in the Head"?

In A BIRD IN THE HEAD, they cut out the part where Curly and the gorilla drink from a bottle of alcohol.
