The channel went out last night. I didn't care too much, because I thought it was just a mistake (my mother ordered new channels) and it would be fixed this morning. She calls them and they tell her that Tech tv can only be viewed with a computer? Does this sound right? I have to call myself to see what they say, but if this correct, why would they do such a thing?

It may just be a Comcast thing. I've heard that they suck before, but I never thought of this before.

Tech TV is a TV channel, and I don't think there is any way possible that it could be made to be viewed only with a computer. That is surely not true. I have not heard anything about this anywhere, which means it was probably just a local glitch and not something as all-encompassing as a switch to computers. The person on the other line sounds like someone who has no idea what they are talking about, maybe new on the job or something.

Not only that, but they would lose a ton of their audience, which just makes no earthy sense whatsoever. Though a lot of computer nuts watch, I doubt that they watch on computers, they watch like everyone else, with TVs.

So I would vote a cable or satellite sompany glitch. Or else it would have been all over the news. And their site still says "Select a TV Show" and has no info about any type of switch.

Check it out.

But again, this is most certainly NOT TRUE. My BF, a super duper tech nut that watches a alot of Tech TV, would have informed me about this. It's not true, it sounds like a load of grade-A horse poop if you ask me. It's never been only viewable on a computer, so it just sounds like something someone made up.

Sounds like you just got a bad employee who was mainly interested in getting you off the phone rather than helping you with your problem. TechTV is a normal cable channel. If you've got the proper hardware, you COULD watch it on your computer, but the standard way of watching it is still with a standard old television. If you're still having problems getting it, I'd call your cable company again and let them know you were treated very rudely by an employee who gave you a line of bullcrap rather than find out the real reason why your service was interrupted. Oh, and get the person's name next time you call. You'd be amazed how much of a better customer service experience you have when the person on the other end knows that you have their name and/or operating number and can report them to their supervisor if you're unsatisfied with the help they give you.

I called them and they said the same things you did. The channel is coming in now, but according to their new channel line-ups, the package with Techtv will now cost an additional $5. I don't know whether to be happy that I can finish Silent Mobius or angry that they are gouging me again.

Thanks for the help.
