I've heard some rumors floating around about Cowboy Bebop and Cowboy Andy, and I hope that you guys can clear them up. Supposedly, Spike's "nemesis" in the episode "Cowboy Funk" was originally Vash, not Cowboy Andy. Is this true, or is it just another baseless Internet rumor?

Well....

I guess if you toss in Andy's "Mushashi" to represent Kenshin... Then yes, I could see this as possible.

I know Nabeshin has a habbit of making fun of other anime series. (and his own as well.)

(but really, Andy is nothing like Vash.)

Wait a minute....didn't Cowboy Bebop and Trigun (and consequently, Outlaw Star) all air about the same time on Japanese TV? It's probably just a rumor....but then again there is "Tainted Donuts"!

Nabeshin is the afro guy from Excel Saga. :p I think you mean Shinichiro Watanabe.

Whoops! you're right, I had him confused with Shinichi Watanabe.

Actually, Nabeshin could be used for either Shinichi Watanabe (see Excel Saga) or Shinichiro Watanabe (a few people who worked on Cowboy Bebop sometimes refer to Shinichiro as Nabeshin in some interviews).

Nah...Cowboy Andy is actually a children's book. The character on Cowboy Bebop is named after and a satire of the children's book, in the same way that Teddy Bomber is based off of Ted Kaczynski. I also think Cowboy Andy has further poetic significance, but I won't go into that. The bottom line is, I seriously doubt he's supposed to be Vash the Stampede.

Whoa, what's this "Year of the Poop" crap (no pun intended)?
Is this making fun of OS or saying that 1998 was a bad year? Oh well.

As for other things, Nabeshin can be either or, but is present in Excel Saga (but Koshi Rikdo is oh so funnier. Rikdo:"I, Koshi Rikdo, do hereby give my permission to turn the Excel Saga into an American Japanimation!" Nabeshin:"You suck!").

Um, that's all.

:brak:

This message's moral: Watch Excel Saga while sane... and play DDR

The former.

Well stop me if this is getting too political, but I think Cowboy Andy was suppost to be western civilization. He was constantly out on wild goose chases while ignoring the real threat, causing mass damage whenever he persued someone, daftly attempting to do justice, targetting personal vendettas instead of the blatant threat, and his right hand was completely oblivious to what his left hand was doing. He just ignored important agendas that the Teddy Bomber was bringing up, and his glammerousness distracted people from the real problems. And overall he was narcasistic and flashy. Plus the fact that he was a cowboy (and a samurai). But I'm probably just a pinko who's reading too much into an episode of a cartoon. You can ignore this if you want.

I also think that episode had influences from Lupin III.

If Cowboy Andy has anything to do with Vash, it's that one's vaguely based off of the other, but I honestly doubt that.

If this WAS the intent, I'd say the writer of "Cowboy Funk" hit the nail on the head, especially in light of recent events.

I'm curious, Aurochs, did you come up with this theory before or after the war started?

I came up with it the most recent time I watched the episode, which was the most recent run of the series, so yes.

Andy is a copy of Spike and Spike is a copy of Lupin!
In mathematical form it would be:

Andy = Spike = Lupin

Did you know a horse has an infinite number of legs? I'd tell you how this is possible, but you're not here, and I can prove that.

Not really. He's only partially inspired by Lupin. I also see some Dirty Harry in him.
