I'm not gonna doubt the Angel team for one sec, but I hope this ep is much better than the previews looked.

Certainly not as good as the last few eps. It was about as entertaining as the episode title is. Actually, it was on the verge of being repetative. Watching Angel & Co grovel to this new player in the game got a tad bit annoying, especially with Fred.

Another disappointment is that for once they didn't offer any mind-blowing surprizes at the end.

*SIGH* I guess not every episode can be a gem.

And tell me that last scene from next week's preview was just an halucination. It's bad enough they got Gunn and Fred together, but Angel and Fred? I feel ill...

Well, I see someone gave it a half star, so at least I know I wasn't the only one groaning and thinking "get on with it!" C'mon, how many times can they all profess thier unbounding love? Really there must have been some way to speed up that turgid mess. I'm thinking maybe Fred seeing through the charm immediately would have been the best way to condense that first half with some of the interesting parts from the second.

Don't get me wrong though, very interesting plot developments but they were presented dryer than a cracker.

GOD DARN IT!!!! lol . I was pissed off when Angel said he loved Cordelia and now this i am so pissed off now lol. Angel is in love with Buffy darn it. BUFFY. The love of your life ,the one you said you would always love and said you would never move on since you can't be with anyone. Did anyone forget this lol.

I gave the ep 3 stars. I didn't think it was great like the last few but i still consider it good. The story is unfolding nicely as they explain how connor's birth was possible. The begining was pretty slow. I do agree that the happy people thing got old. But when fred saw the real face of jasmine that's when things started to pick up.

I look foward to the next ep, even though i'm not crazy about angel getting with fred. Hopefully they just used a dream sequence for a teaser. I don't know. Storywise angel has been pretty consistant. Even though this wasn't an all star ep i still liked it

First of all, I love your buddy icon, sig, all that fun stuff. (big, big XTC fan)

I completely agree. Excruciatingly dull. I don't know what Team Angel has in the works for part two, but I'll go ahead and say based on this that these really, really should've been condensed into a single episode. The pacing was waaaaaaaay off. I'm sure it's just a setup to something greater, but "Angel" has done such a great job compared to its sister series with balancing setup with...well, something actually happening, and they really fumbled the ball with this one. The religion metaphors were about as subtle as the "magic is like drugs!" tripe on "Buffy" last season. I also didn't buy into Gina Torres' performance. Just seemed really artificial and unconvincing, which very well may have been the point, but it really took me out of the episode.

Things I liked:

* Lots of Fred. Admittedly, lots of Fred doing nothing in particular, but I'm a fan and will take what I can get.
* Angel in that white/yellow shirt. The change from the black leather to something so bright wasn't subtle either (kinda like the white Darla/dark Cordy lastish), but still effective. Wes seemed 'lighter' as well near the end.
* Minimal Cordelia!

Worst episode of the season, hands down.

BTW, about the preview shown for next week, even though it'd probably be better off in another thread:

OK, is there anyone on this show that isn't going to make out with Fred? Not that I blame them, but still... I guess Fred's kissed almost everyone, Angel's kissed almost everyone...due to happen eventually.

Pretty dissapointing episode this weel. This episode just moved really slow up until when Fred saw here true face. It was nice to go and get more of an explanation about certain things but this was just a dull episode. I have faith in the Angel team though that they will rebound and go out with a bang.

Most people are disappointed. I'm more thinking, "Finally!" It's about time Angel take it down a notch for at least a episode and be mediocre. Buffy's been doing that for most of her season. :p

Not alot happened, but that's easily forgivable considering this season has been one mind blowing episode after another. It's good to take it down a couple notches before the final hurrah, so that finale will be that much more mind blowing instead of like the rest.

The Angel writers are too smart... no, Angel and Fred are not really going to get together. I've a feeling that that preview was a gimmick trick to mislead you. A random guess would have me think that after Angel's freed they figure out the only way to beat Jasmine is to bring back Angelus, so Fred decides to...... in any case it's not straightforward. Angel loves Cordelia and the writers have enough on their hands with Wes and Gunn.

Best part about this episode was then genuine scare they got out of me when we got to see Jasmine's true face. Not often television gives you that kind of fright.

Weak episode but still.. we're getting yet another new episode next week, unlike a certain other show that's been dillying about the entire season and is dancing around reruns of late.

I liked how "slow" this episode was, it seemed like a nice setup episode for what's to come.

A decent episode but probably the weakest of the season. Overall I thought that the pacing was really off and some of the dialogue that they continued to give Jasmine made me laugh out loud. The episode did seem to pick up a little near the end though after Fred got to see her true face and you could feel the alienation that Fred must have felt at the end of the episode. Looking forward to seeing next weeks episode (esp considering Fred looks to be a primary focus again).

I guess because i missed the episode before this one, I did not get that same feeling of disappointment. In fact, I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop (I still couldn't decide if Jasmine was genuily good or not until the guy tried to kill her).

I just know there will be something to her affinity for that smell other than using it as a device for naming her.

I'm going to miss Skip. They took a one-shot character, brought him back because so many people liked him, and made him out to be the evil Beastmaster. Pretty good.

I hope the gang retains their memories of their happiness, so that they can all work together again.

I give this episode a 4, but I suppose if I had seen the preceding episode, I might have beenn less enthusiastic.

Well, can't say I'm not just a tad bit disapointed in this episode. No, it wasn't horrible or anything, it just seemed almost pointless. I probably could have just watched last week's preivew, skipped this week, and understood what was going on next week with no problem at all. One thing I did like about this episode was Jasmine's strategy, she's an interesting take on evil. Instead of going nuts, getting violent, etc. just get everyone to love you so much that they'd do anything for you, I find that interesting.

Can't wait til next week!

Not much to add... a typical 'Angel' season 1 (or 2) episode: super cliched story (no John, Buffy hasn't had a single episode as bad as this one this season), very repetitive dialogue, Diana Ross-like big bad :D Did I mention dull characters?

I just hope that's not what the end of the season is gonna be like.

Yeah, and I thought the maggot-faced demon from the firstseason was bad! Although, at least I wasn't eating dinner this time, when Gnarl was eating Willow's flesh, I had just sat down to eat!

Well, Angel does what it normally does when the season is about to end. It introduces a new a player and begins a new arc that usually starts out very slow, but reaches its' climax in a few episodes. So this episode really didn't seem as bad to me as it did to others, but the pacing was off a little at the beginning so I gave it 3 1/2 stars. Overall this was the weakest episode in the overall storyarc, not the season, but storyarc.

Now I expect Buffy to do what it normally does at the end of each season and start hitting everyone with the shocks and surprises it normally does when its' season reaches a close, but I expect this one to be bigger seeing as how this is its' final season.

What do you mean super cliched story from season 1 and 2??? I mean season 1 was mostly Angel doing is job and protecting the innocence and helping others find redemption. Angel season 2 had some of the things s1 had except it focused more on the relationship between Angel and Darla. So what do you mean super cliched exactly????

As for the end of the season well from what I hear interesting very interesting.

I don't know, I didn't think it was as bad as some people are saying here. It beats most of the last two seasons of Buffy, at least.

Yes, Fred could have found out sooner. The love was getting old. But it's nice to have a break once in a while. This show has had so many great moments in the last two years that every once in a while it just needs to sit back and let a few plots slowly build. Plus, Fred gets some focus, and in my eyes, that's not so bad. :p

This belongs to the Buffy VS Angel thread so I'll make it short... Angel season 1 was full of very cheap monster-of-the-week episodes, with no overall storyline (Angel protecting ppl isn't exactly what I'd call an extremely original story  ). And Angel season 2 seemed to be completely pointless (the final Pylea story is the epitome of this poinlessness)
