New York Times recently ran an article where the writer thanks CARTOON NETWORK and NICKELODEON for not breaking their regular cartoons during the events. I think the article makes a great valid point. Here's the link:

that's a really cool article..I enjoyed reading it.
I can see where they are coming from..I even had to watch cartoons because the coverage was depressing me, and I just got tired of watching it...
CN and Nick should give themselves a pat on the back for entertaining the kids during this tough time..

I found cartoons the perfect counter point for the news. The news did get overwhelming for me as well, and I just had to change the channels sometimes. Thankfully, SIMPSONS is one 2 or 3 times a day up here so I had a thankful escape.

Exactly! I was so disappointed they didnt show the Simpsons the day of the tragedy. Not because I'm callous or anything, I understand why they did it and all, but in general, if you get a heavy dose of bad and sad news, a little bit of funny is really uplifting. I cant wait til the Simpsons DVD's come out, especially for the seasons after 1 & 2.

I just think it's always good to have something a person can turn to in order to just escape even for a little while. I was glued to the enws the whole day but I just reache dmy limit and HAD to change the channel.

Another channel that I haven't seen interrupted yet....Animal Planet! What better way to counterbalance all this news lately than to watch some funny animal videos!

Yeah I noticed that to, children (and people like us) need somewhere to be sheltered from the evils in the world.

Yeah....Steve Irwin, Croc Hunter made me burst out laughing when I turned to him a coupla days ago...so did Spongebob on Nick.
....heck, it's nice to have a little place to go and not worry about this thing, as you all said...but as Nick ran something teaching kids about the Clinton sex scandal, I wonder if they will eventually do something with the WTC soon....

They did already, actually, last Sunday on an episode of Nick News. I watched it, and thought it was very good. They had kids form a couple different nationalities also who were able to talk about what they were going through. I hope a lot of kids watched it, because it explained everything so the kids could understand it, and also gave an address so that they could writed letters to the victim's families.
And on a less serious note...I LOVE Animal Planet!! :D The Crocidile Hunter and Jeff Corwin are the funniest nature show guys I have ever seen. And I love animals, so I basically can enjoy watching any show on that channel, it rocks!! :D
