See? Today's show showed some cartoons where Tom had some speaking lines. That really illustrates that point I made in the other thread.

Erm, I don't think most of those cartoons had TOM actually speaking (apart from his usual yelps and cries). It was common in the old T&J cartoons to have Tom and Jerry as silent characters, but to have many of the other characters (e.g. Spike, Mammy) speaking lines.

In fact only 'The Bodyguard' has Tom saying one line "In me power!" Not sure about the Framed Cat, been a while since I saw it.

On the occasions that Tom and Jerry were given speech, it was only really one-liners or the occasional couple of words.
