Hi,

I recently (last weekend) beat Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty on the PS2. Well, I beat it, watched and enjoyed the LONG ending, the plot twists... but I don't understand it! Can someone please explain the basic plot, especially the ending, of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty to me? I am SO lost after beating this game... I want to understand the plot!

Thanks for the help. :(

The game's plot is a rambling, incoherent mess. Nobody knows exactly what the deal is. I doubt even Kojima himself has a clear picture at this point.

So I'm sure you'll be able to find people with theories, but probably not anyone who can definitely explain things for you.

Simple answer: No. You were better off beating MGS2 and when the final cinema came up, mute it and go get a sandwich.

You'd probably have more luck trying to figure out End of Eva's ending...or maybe not.

The best thing for you to do is, as Skiptastic said, go get a sandwich.

Not that this will help any, but at gamefaqs, someone posted an ending analysis. I have not played this game through and seen the ending, so I don't know if this is a good analysis or not. However, it might spark some debate. So here you go.

Hey! Thanks! :) I was worried that I must be stupid or something to not understand the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty ending, lol... At least now I know I'm not alone!

But, nevertheless, if anyone has any plot theories they'd like to offer... I'd rather have a good theory explaining the ending than no theory at all. Any ideas?

Count me among those that found the ending (and a fair bit of the story) extremely confusing. It got to the point where I just wanted the characters to stop talking and start fighting already.

So yeah...I don't think I could offer any theories to explain the ending, since I didn't understand it myself. Too bad, since the gameplay itself was great.

Thought Penny Arcade's take on this was funny... :p
