What's your favorite patriotic cartoon?
I always thought "Scrap Happy Daffy" was my favorite -
you can easily see that by my avatar!

My favorite is Disney's "Education For Death" (1943). It's just so very effective at story telling and is downright chilling in parts for a Disney cartoon, particularly the ending where the entire row of soldiers transmutes into a row of crosses.

Runners-up would have to be "Der Fuehrer's Face (also Disney; one of the funniest of the patriotic stuff), and, at Warners, "Russian Rhapsody" (great use of a certain ruthless dictator getting his just desserts) and "Draftee Daffy" (although this one is sort of anti-patriotic considering how eager Daffy is NOT to join and fight).

A cross between Blitz Wolf(only Tex's first cartoon at MGM, and already his archtype!) and Russian Rhapsody(esp. for Hitler's speech in the opening, the best parody of German-speak of the war)

Not sure if Draftee Daffy fits, but it is one of my favorite Clampetts.

Ack! How could I have forgotten "Blitz Wolf"? That's DEFINITELY one of my favorites, wartime cartoon or otherwise. One of Tex Avery's finest; the gags just come at you bang! bang! bang! and you never get tired of them. My favorite scene is still the bit with the "long darn thing" that bombs Tokyo (the pigs blame the country's downfall on General Doolittle).

SCRAP HAPPY DAFFY is definitely my number one favorite patriotic cartoon.

RUSSIAN RHAPSODY and SEEIN' RED, WHITE & BLUE are also near the top of my list.

Three of those I've been able to see, but I wasn't even aware that All Out For 'V' even existed anymore. I've heard about it for years, but sadly, have never seen it before. My two favorites are here-Der Fuehrer and Old Glory.

The last time I saw "All Out for 'V'" was about 9-10 years ago on WGN very early in the morning. They used to show "Terrytoons" around 6-6:30am before I went to work. It was a cute one-shot with an assortment of animals doing their thing for the war effort, all the while singing "'V' for Victory". I wish I had taped these toons back then. I would like to see this one again...

I remember one cartoon in which two enemy aircraft are shot down; when they crash together, their smoke trails form a big 'V.' I last saw this in 1964. Would it have been "All Out for V"?

My favorite WW2 'toons are "The Blitz Wolf," "Peace on Earth," "Russian Rhapsody," "Daffy the Commando" and "Herr Meets Hare."
