During a musicians' strike in 1958, Warner's gave music credit to John Seely. He compiled stock music for six cartoons, which are listed in order of release.

Just for the record, some of those stock-footage musical underscores were also heard on a few Hanna-Barbera cartoon series of that time. They used some miscellaneous titles from the Capitol Records music archive, as well as original music by Hoyt Curtin and Charles Shows, among others.

Seely's music also became the soundtrack for television's "Dennis the Menace" sitcom (1959 - 1963). Interesting that the scores were bouncing between studios: Warner Brothers, HB, and Columbia (producer of "Dennis..."). Implies that Seely held the copyright, and was selling non-exclusive rights to use the music. Was this the situation... anybody know?

I voted for "Hip Hip Hurry". The awful canned music, somehow, doesn't distract me like it does in the other 5 cartoons.
My runner-up: "Weasel While You Work"

Seely's music is really awkward in general, and eloquently shows how crucial Stalling and Franklyn were to making Looney Tunes what they were. But I have always thought that it worked oddly well for WEASEL WHILE YOU WORK. The wintertime atmosphere of the cartoon somehow is complimented by the spare, cold feeling of that stock music.
