According to the TRAILERS... sidebar in WIZARD #140
"Sandy Frank Entertainment is in the process of preparing a new "BoTP" animated series and packaging eight "BoTP" 75--minute features to be sold to TV. for a fall 2003 start."
Then in the Anime Buzzbox They say that it is tentatively being called "Battle of The Planets: The New Exploits of G-Force" The show wll feature the original 1972 Japanese anime with "new footage".

Yeah this has been in the works for a bit now - can't be worse than the comic.. *grumble*

What's wrong with the comic in your opinion? I kinda remember edited version of "G Force" (wasn't that with the robot Zark who talked thoughout the series so that the violent parts weren't shown?) I think the comic is obviously darker and a bit more true to the original show but of course I could be wrong. I'm not a super fan of the series so my information is limited.

Well according to the rumors Sandy Frank Entertainment wants this to be close to the original Japan versions with some new footage added. No 7-Zark-7 and very few if any edits.

Well according to the rumors Sandy Frank Entertainment wants this to be close to the original Japan versions with some new footage added.I got the impression from one interview that with "new footage" they meant footage from Gatchaman episodes that haven't been released in English before (neither BotP or G-Force dubbed the last batch of episodes).

There are some episodes of "Gatchaman" that were never translated into english when Sandy Frank released it as "Battle Of The Planets". Including the last four episodes due to violent content and the death of one of the main characters. (Joe, Jason, Dirk, whatever.)
