Comic Newsarama columnist Michael Sangiacomo devoted his latest Journey Into Comics to the upcoming WB show "Smallville" - a Superboy themed show. Below is an excerpt.

Remember cringing at the sappy dialogue and cheesy writing in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman?

And am I the only one who felt like the actors were laughing at us?

You won't have to worry about any of that with Smallville, the new television series about the adventures of Superman, when he was a boy, that debuts on the WB network on Oct. 16 at 9 p.m.

It's good, very good.

There is no forced camp humor, no ridiculous villains spouting lame dialogue and nothing to be embarrassed about. In short, Smallville is not some clueless Hollywood executive's idea of what comic books are like, but a series written, acted and directed by people who understand and enjoy comics.
