I'm submitting this to my fellow zoners hoping to get some feedback on an idea I've been toying with. Perhaps the greatest reference materiel that has ever existed for the DC Universe was the Original Who's Who and supplements that were publishes right aroung the time of The Crisis on Infinite Earths. Granted, for the most part the entire project is now very dated, but it still is perhaps the best across the board reference out there.

With that said, I was wondereing if anyone would find the idea of all the original 24 volumes, and supplements, on CD to be a worthwhile Idea? I envision something along the lines of all the issues scanned and then creted in an Adobe Acrobat file format. I understand tht the materiel is still copyrighted by DC so this whole idea may be a non starter. But still I would love to have something like this handy. If anyone else likes the idea, and would like to contribute a little time to the project let me know.

Howdy,

I'm all for the idea, although I think that a "Who's Who" web site might be a better approach. While a CD-ROM is nicely permanent (and allows for nicer PDF formatting), a web site would be easier to keep up to date. The ability to hyperlink entries is also quite cool. Kind of like the Marvel Directory (http://www.marveldirectory.com/), except for the DCU.

On the other hand, it also means a continuous, ongoing maintenance problem instead of a one-time-only kind of deal.

In any event, I have a scanner, a bunch of the Vertigo-related DC entries (and, I'm sure, the regular ones somewhere in my parents' basement), and the ability to generate PDFs.
