So, what are the rarest out of the Batman and Superman Animated figures? I heard that Metallo, Bizarro and Supergirl were exceptionally hard to get, as far as the Superman line is concerned, and that Harley Quinn is also a rarity, although, I'm not too sure where people get this idea, as I've seen most of these in bargain bins, here and there.
I also know Penguin is quite tricky to find, and there seems to be two variations of him as well - one with a sleeved coat, one with an un-sleeved coat.
Can anyone confirm or deny the above, or add to them?

I would say that Phantasm, Power Cape Batman (Batman Beyond), Blight (Batman Beyond), Harley Quinn and The Penquin (TAS) are very hard to find. Those, I had trouble finding..still didn't get a penguin..

as for superman..I'm pretty sure those are the only rare ones (the ones You listed)...

From the Batman: TAS line, basically any of the villains are tough to find. The rarest was the Penguin, who was going for $140 for a while. Of the Batman figures, the original Combat Belt Batman (who looked the most like he did on the cartoon) is rare, as are the early Dick Grayson Robin figures.

As for the Superman: TAS line, it's the same deal: all the villains. In the second shipments of the first line Darkseid replaced Brainiac in the assortment, so both of them are tough (Lex Luthor was in both). Bizzaro, Metallo, and Supergirl are, of course, close to impossible.

I've been lucky enough to get my hands all an entire set of villains from both lines, but I've had to pay quite a bit for them. Four years working in various toy stores helped quite a bit.

I got my Bizarro, Metallo and Supergirl as Christmas presents from a good friend of mine, but I know he only paid £2.99 each for them, and got them in a discount store. At a memorabilia fair I attended recently I saw more than a few tables with these going for normal shop prices i.e. £7.99 each. Were these 3 UK exclusives, by any chance?

Yup, they were.

You were lucky. They weren't scheduled to be released in the United States, but were eventually distributed through the direct market. I got Supergirl first (who I think shipped separately) and found Bizzaro and Metallo a few months later. I think I've seen them going for about $25-$30 dollars in comic stores around here...and still no Parasite, Toyman, or the rest!

I hate Hasbro.

I started collecting the B:TAS figures late, but was still able to get a lot of the earlier ones. I found Two-Face (1995) at a KMart behind a bunch of new Batman toys. I got Phantasm for my birthday the next year, Poison Ivy for $10 at a toy show (MIP, no less!!!), and most of the rest I was lucky enough to find in the stores. I've got a Penguin w/o accessories I bought for a buck, but it's in good condition. I think it's about impossible to get Harley, Wind Blitz Batgirl, and Robin any more, maybe eBay, but I haven't seen them at a toy or comic con in a while...

I've been lucky and got all of the older figs for regular price.
But the best deal I found was $25 for a MIB Penguin at a toy
web site about 4 years ago. I guess they just didn't know what
they had. (Really looking forward to JLAnimated toys and
DC direct maquettes.)

took up alot of room, I know, but this is what Nass said about em:

Rare Superman line out now, these figs are all over ebay and are being found in very select stores like KB Toys. Rumor has it, which should be taken with a grain of salt, they'll pop up at Big Lots where theyd be pretty cheap. But that most likely is a crazy rumor someone started, however just in case, keep your eyes open or check back here and we'll keep ya posted. You might have noticed anti-Kryptonite and Fortress of Solitude Superman were shown at a toy fair back in 98, but this Strong Arm Superman is the first newly sculpted Superman in his original costume. www.amoktime.com also has them for sale at around $15 each.

Actually, all three of the new Superman figures appeared sooner--check out the Toyfare Winter Special Edition (1997) for a group shot of most of the toy line. These are the final three figures to see release in the U.S. (missing in action is Superman's Space Pod, which was to be released as a vehicle for the line).

I was lucky enough to find these figures as they were just being unpacked last week at a Kay Bee Toys in Maryland. They're shipping at four per pack, with a total of 12 in each box (I think).

I especially like the Fortress of Solitude Superman, who I can pretend is the Eradicator (which bulks up the incredibly small roster of villains). They're pretty good, but, sadly, they just don't take the place of a full rogues gallery.
