I was really confused about the whole thing at first and was homesick for the old boards, but the ease of use and features have won me over.
I do still miss the way you could read the subject line of every post, not only the start of the thread.
And the way the post's jump around is kind of confusing sometimes. This is made up for by the fact that we don't have to worry about the whole archive thing, and that the more popular subjects stay on top and are easy to find.
Everything else is just awesome. Like how we can do that. Or make polls. or send private messages to buddies. or how we can tell if buddies are online.
despite my initial resistance to change. Now I LOVE THESE BOARDS. I just hope everyone from the old boards shows up!

Agreed! It was a little weird to get used to at first, but i now can say that i love them. Not as much as the old boards yet, but it'll just take time. I too love the new features (have yet to find a good avatar though). I also miss the same things you do, like being able to read the titles instead of just the first on a thread. Ah well. It'll just take time...

I'm used to this layout cause I also go to a few Auto Racing forms with the same layout....... :) So it was no big deal to me. http://members.spree.com/entertainment/THE_FLASH/faces/uptosomething.gif

It kinda was uncomfortable at first, and I certainly didn't know everything there is to know about these boards, but I have to say that the TEST BOARD is the best way to experiment with the new features on these boards and not annoy anybody by posting things that would be other wise annoying and pointless on the other boards. But after a few postings on the TEST BOARD and having some of the vets help me figure a few things out, I am now able to do the things I have always wanted to do on these boards!

The layout of these boards is similar to the one ezboard uses, so I adapted pretty well (Although ezboard is pretty much doomed, now you have to pay for quality service -_-)
Hey Calhoun, out of curiosity, are you a fan of Peter David's work?

i think these boards are tons better than the old but it could that i was not on the old boards long to get really attached to them i would have to say while i am a big fan of comics i really like the general boards more and it kinda makes me mad cause i never evan bothered to check them out on the old boards;)

You now have to pay for ezboards? No way! Alot of good message boards, like boardhost and insidethewbe, are now packed with advertisements or payment requirements now, which suck becuase they just used to be so good before all this dotcom crash stuff began! I'm glad you're al lliking the place.

Yeah, they offer this thing called "CSC gold" which is basically you pay and they get rid of the unsightly ads. Ezboard's going down, despite all the pop-ups and banners they have to put, they're still not making enough money. Fortunately, a member paid "ransom" for the board I use the most, the Cybersix one (Yay, Cybersix!), and now everyone can enjoy normal forum conditions without a thousand pop-ups appearing. Blargh.

Yes, I am. In fact, for my first 80 posts or so, Captain Calhoun was my avatar, but I figured first hardly anybody would recognize him and second, I wanted an avatar that was more about animation than Star Trek.

I don't really have the time lately to try and figure out all the bells and whistles on this board (like avatars, etc). I'm just trying to keep up with it!

I recognized it!!
Hey, when I tried to click "Change Avatar" in "edit options", it crashed my computer, and it wouldn't stop doing that. So I finally changed it using a computer at school.

So...you were one of the few! http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/contrib/duckman/bigcheek.gif
I feel for you about the problems with changing your avatar. I've had a heck of a time getting the mysmilies.com site to work on my computer. I cannot describe how it messes it up, but I have to close out of my Internet browser and often have to reboot the entire computer. I think too many animated GIFs on my computer at once are not a good thing. But, I have no problem with the site at work when I catch up on the board during my lunch period.http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/confused/fie.gif Who knows why these things happen, eh?

I get most of them from mysmilies.com, the site I was reporting having problems with on my computer. I also have found various animated GIF sites and other smilie sites simply by typing "smilies" and "animated GIF" in various search engines! It takes a while to find some of them!
As far as my problems with mysmilies.com, I find if I go to their old frames version, and I select to have only 15 GIFs displayed at once, that eliminates some of the problems I have. But my computer certainly has a problem with having ALOT of animated GIFs on one web page at one time!
Also, you know that on any animated GIF posted on these boards, you can use your mouse and right click over the picutre and find the properties for the picture. That will tell you the domain it came from.

Oh and if you right click on my stuff.....and it came from a spree site.....then I probably made it....I would like it if no one uses the ones I made...thanks

I agree! I found these boards so easy to get used to in n time. I was sorta used to the layouts becuase of the DC and WB Boards, but these boards I just fell in love wiht. They were a great mix, and I'm glad alot of people like 'im!

I miss the ease of scrolling down and being able to see all on one page who's responded to your posts. I wonder if at times I forget where I post and if I miss replies.

Same here. That is the feature I miss the most. It made things a bit easier when you were able to do that, but I think althe options make up for that. Still, I'd be so nice to have that option.

actually there are 2 things on this board to prevent that. when you look at the thread list, you can set the list that threads that have new replies that you didn't read are listed on the top of the list with a red envelope.
also you can set the option to being notified by email if somebody replied to a thread you posted at.

You can't see at a glance how a thread is mutating. I missed out on most of the excitement on the Wayne vs. McGinnis thread on the BBZ board because I wasn't interested in the early posts, and had no idea it had taken the interesting turns it had.
You can also get lost on some of the sub-threads that twist out--it's sometimes hard to keep straight what posts are replies to what other posts.
OK, those are my two complaints. Otherwise, I think the new look is great!

That 'McGinnis VS Wayne' thread has mutated and changed so many times I think I've lost cont. That is deifnatly one of the things I miss about the old boards, but I think given a bit more while we'll be totally used to the new boards.
