Bugs is the 1st character that is smart-ass, vindictive, and lead protagonist. Before Bugs, a character w/ this personality would've been the lead protagonist's bad tempered, comedic relief sidekick. Bugs opened the door for a bunch of bad behaviors that became acceptable for lead protagonists.
Spike is Spike. Need I say more?
