I totally agree with that guy. Why must politicians (if they can be called that, judging by their low intelligence level) always point fingers at video games? I play tons of violent, bloody and gory video and computer games, and yet I don't copy what they do because I'm not on any drugs and I'm much smarter than to do that. Look at TV, movies or music for once? Man, our government is the worst, with our leaders constantly ignoring our needs and not acting like a REAL democratic government (sorry I got a little off-topic there, I just had to let off a lot of steam)!

Grea rant, I agree with pretty much everything said. When demeaning and misrepresenting ads came up, that blockbuster "anatomy of a gamer" immediately came to mind...

too true... and you know what? I'm getting really sick of Video Games not being intepreted the same way movies and television are. If a movie has a guy killing people its rated R and no oe blames it for anything... but when Grand Theft Auto has a new installment there is controversy because people are stupid and they don't realize that stupid people do stupid things beuase they are stupid, rather they blame it on GTA because they dont understand that it is adverised distributed and intended for viewing the same way movies are... only the inteligent and mature need purchase an obviously labeled M rated game...

It's about time the masses get educated and start trating video games the way they treat other media... if there is violence or nudity... well thats just the way it is...

He's 135% correct. Although I have seen rare instances of movies and TV being blamed, most of the finger-pointing goes straight to video games. *coughhypocritescough*

Eh, this rant really didnt do that much for me. Nothing here is really new, in fact its all about three years old. I mean, this is the type of stuff seen after Columbine. Something he forgets to mention that is more important to me is not the obvious hypocrisy of the media to blame video games and music, but the failure to put any focus on the responsibility of the parents for making sure their children have good values instilled in them and that they arent going to go off and murder someone.

Another thing that kinda is iffy is his whole thing about commercials looking down on the gamers. Um, the commercials are the responsibility of the GAME MAKERS, so the game makers themselves are who should be blamed for them. In my opinion, the game makers do not look down upon the gamers in their commercials, they just play up the part of the gamer stereotype. I mean, I go online all the time, and Im a gamer, and people think of me as some sort of overweight nerd who cant get a girlfriend and is antisocial. And when Im online, I will play that up, cuz its fun to make those types of associations. In real life, Im a lanky nerd who cant get a girlfriend, but im not antisocial. I mean, Im a gamer, and I think of other gamers the same way. I know its not true, but who cares? We can make fun of each other, why cant the game makers get in on the joke? Thats the way I look at the video game commercials hes talking about (the DOA3 commercial).

I just kind of think this rant is old news. Real gamers know whats up and how the gaming community is growing. The thing is that when I think of "gamers" I think of hardcore gamers. This guy is talking about gamers as anybody who owns a system and/or plays video games. I dont know, maybe its jsut me, but I dont think gamers need someone to make statements like this when things are going very well in the gaming community on the whole.

But thats just my opinion, I could be wrong...but not likely.
