One of the best BB episodes I've seen, the ending was very much like one BTAS episode where one guy was so freaked he couldn't sleep and he had to check every little space with a shotgun by his side.

Too bad Inque couldn't of been expanded on in a movie, maybe something like a Mask of the Phantasm equivelent for Batman Beyond.

Excellent episode. When I first saw the episode, I did not expect Inquel's daughter to betray her.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more comment on this episode, but because I... observed it... recently, I'll bring it back up.

"Inqueling" was a nice change of pace for Batman Beyond because it was one of the few times in the series where Bruce wasn't shouting directions in Terry's ear the whole time. We got to see how Terry behaved totally on his own, just what kind of a Batman he'd grown into.

And it turns out, quite a good one. Batman handled himself with aplomb in his two matchups with Inque, quite the contrast to his first fight with her in "Black Out". The shock impulses (that's what I'll call them) in his gloves was a cool new trick, and shows that both Terry and Bruce are able to keep pace with their foes even in this future Gotham. And Terry's attitude has also evolved nicely from the beginning: he's cautious enough to be thoroughly planned for everything, yet he still maintains a confidence in his own abilities that makes him willing to take risks when the need arises.

What I especially loved to see was how Terry, despite being his 'own' Batman, was clearly picking up Bruce's teachings in this episode. He did some nice detective work tracking down Inque, and he's learned to intimidate and strike fear into his enemies. These aren't necessarily instances of 'channeling' Bruce Wayne- rather, they're integral parts of the Batman mythos, regardless of who's behind the mask. The Bat-terrogation of that corporate slime was truly priceless.

Max wasn't annoying at all in this episode- in fact, she was at her most beneficial, both getting Dana off of Terry's case and tracing Inque's account numbers back to her daughter. I liked how she kept asking to see the Batcave. I know I would. :D

And does anyone else feel kind of sorry for Inque? I mean, sure she's a criminal, a mercenary, and evidently a killer as well, but given everything that had happened to her she was at least trying to be a good mother, or at least as good a mother as she could be given the circumstances. She could have been totally heartless and allowed her daughter (what was her name?) to survive on her own in the world with nothing at all. It reveals a deeper dimension to Inque's character, and in fact, a sympathetic one.

If anything, her daughter ended up behaving more coldly and soullessly than Inque herself. The justification about "You never gave me anything but money" notwithstanding, that was cold blooded murder, purely for monetary gain.

Although from the way the episode ended, it looks like Inque will have her vengeance yet. ;)

I gave it 4.5 stars. If there's ever another Batman Beyond DTV, I'd like it to resolve Inque once and for all, among other things.

I thought this episode was going to really wrap up everything we knew about Inque but they still leave alot out there. The worst thing is we probably aren't going to find out the fate of her chararacter unless some of the show's creative team tells us.

I prefer to think that Inque is dead, since this would make a very good ending for her, and her JLU appearence ("Epilogue") was just Terry's fantasy. She has never "actually" appeard after this.

Little nugget I noticed, the Credit Counslour's phone number (on the bussiness card) was (111) 555-0199.

01-99. January '99. The month and year that Batman Beyond premiered.

Sorry, b.t. and crew, that was WAYYY to easy (easier than Batman's 91939 in "A Better World").

She showed up in "The Call, Part 1" so...no, she's not entirely dead.

Good episode, one thing...

What's up with Terry getting shot - repeatedly - and bouncing right back? He's always been kind of inconsistent about what he can take, but honestly. (Makes him being taken down by musket fire in "The Once and Future Thing" even weirder.)

Ok, I was watching this episode on DVD. I recognize the voice of Inque's daughter. That's Azura Skye. She was in an episode of Buffy during the final season. Now that's a switch. Bruce Timm having someone play the voice of one of his characters. And then the actor/actress playing a part in one of Joss Whedon's shows.

Oh, and I just wanted to point our the Max looked really really good in this episode.

Wow...Inque's relationship with her daughter is complicated.
