No please, before you start pelting me with rotten tomatoes, just hear me out...

Having just endured the misery that was Star Trek: Nemesis, my friends and I were chatting and crying into our beers when one of said friends stated he'd heard a rumour that the next Trek films OR series would be a return to the Classic continuity, with new actors cast in the roles of Kirk, Spock et al, and would cover the years between the end of season three and Star trek: The Slow Motion Picture.

Now, whilst I may or may not think this is a good idea, I was just curious to know who you guys would cast as the main crew...

OK, now you can pelt me with rotten tomatoes... :D

First off, if that EVER happened, I would refuse to see it. You just don't recast the big 7 Original Castmembers. That would be disrespectful to them, especially since DeForest Kelly is no longer with us. :( Plus, I don't think there are any actors today who could pull those rolls after they've been played by the same people for over 30 years. So, there's my cast: NO ONE. Don't do it, don't even think about it. But hey, if Berman wanted to really have a straw that would break the camel's back with Trek fans, that would be a good way to do it.

Hmm, that is a scary thought. I'd rather see it redone like Star Trek Year One. Same characters embelished on with different actors.

Not sure who I would cast... you could cast anyone if you were looking for a slightly different slant.

William H Macy as Bones... he'd be good. I'd like to see Ben Browder's take on Kirk although he's a little close to the genre...

somebody is gonna die for this travesty... Im gonna pick up Berman and Braga, tie them to front of a CSX train and run it at 120 mph into an Amtrak Sunset Express and it's all gonna be caught live on Web Cam.

Its an interesting thought but I know I couldn't handle it and wouldn't watch it. I can't even get into Enterprise and even as a projected fantasy concept I can't get my head around replacing TOS crew, Bill Shatner was, is & will always be Capt Kirk I grew up with that and some things should never change.

On the other hand SJJ's embellished idea might be more promising ...

I think I could handle that, Macy'd be pretty good ... who else though? Ben Stiller as Spock? Noooooo, I'm joking - don't even go there :D

Only guy I could see as Spock is Christopher Lee, but he's way too old.

The only person that I can see working in a Star Trek revival is Hugo Weaving as Spock. That's about it.

No, see, here's the thing. William H. Macy...one of my favorite actors!! Really, but he is not bones, he never has been, will be, or should be. This is my cast for any future TOS projects:
William Shatner as James Kirk
Leonard Nimoy as Spock
James Doohan as Scotty
Walter Koenig as Chekov
George Takei as Sulu
Nichelle Nichols as Uhuru.
It's painful to even talk about any other person filling these roles.
