It's only been 2 1/2 months since the "Cartoons Go to War" Toonheads special was aired by Cartoon Network, but given the circumstances of the past five days they ought to consider a repeat airing right now.
After the terrorist attacks, people now can relatate better to the feelings of Americans in 1941-45, because they now have the same feelings towards the people who attcked New York and Washington. When the show first aired back on July 1, feelings like that towards a foreign enemy were just a piece of distant history to most viewers.
(And if they don't re-run it, how about an all-WWII cartoon night on the Acme Hour, with a special added showing of the 1949 Bugs Bunny "A Lad and His Lamp," with it's Iraqi settings?)

actually iraq may go on our side in this war.
Perhaps that is a good idea. Some people might need to see something funny right now, and will probably be able to relate to what the people making the cartoons would have felt at the time, just like you said.
Speaking of WWII cartoons, I've had "Any Bonds Today" stuck in my head ever since I watched the news this morning...

Funny, I've had "We did it before and we can do it again!" stuck in my head!
Follow the bouncing smilie!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :D
We did it before and we can do it again!
Man was that pathetic and stupid.........
It's been stuck in my head because they briefly mentioned that the government might start selling bonds again. I don't know if it's true, though. It wouldn't be the first time something wrong relating to the attack was broadcast on the news...
But now I have the song you mentioned stuck in my head...

I don't know if CN would do it, but I would love it if they had an all WWII Acme Hour tonight.
Besided, the anniversary of that first rare Acme Hour (the one with RUSSIAN RHAPSODY, SATURDAY EVENING PUSS, PORKY'S MIDNIGHT MATINEE, and MALIBU BEACH PARTY) is coming up soon. Wasn't it on October 1st last year?

It could happen! :)
Every Saturday night in October the Acme Hour will be preempted because CN will be having a Cartoon Theatre October Spookfest (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?threadid=6342) featuring a double feature of Scooby-Doo and Alvin and the Chipmunks movies.

Oh SWEET! However, we've had a ton of pre-emptions before and NOTHING happened.

I've had the same thoughts on my mind lately, J. Lee. This country needs anything that could possibly fuel its sense of patriotism and unity, and I think that a repeat showing would work well. Heck, with the loss of Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim, it could fit in well in that 1 hour block that's now opened up. I'd expect it to get good ratings if they advertised it, anyone who purposely missed it, or just didn't try to catch it first time, would be more likely to watch it out of a sense of patriotism from the recent events. Or at least a nice patriotic toon block would be nice, maybe a nice variety of toons where Hitler gets the crap kicked out of him.:D

I taped the WWII Toonheads, so I got to replay it tonight. One eerie coincidence is [ censored by me to protect a cartoon from CN censors ]
The show felt largely appropriate at this time. I'm not sure patriotism vs. political correctness(or even a reasonable racial hatred concern or two) would come out on its side for CN.
Maybe they should only show the Alladin Bugs Bunny the regular way, though. It was shown in theaters during Desert Storm, and some complained it played to people's prejudices. I sure DON'T want it censored, since I'm unhappy with the censorship already done on CN. But, in context, it could foment more anti-Arab- American hatred in some isolated cases. Out of context, I'd feel better about crying PC (and I do, believe me!) if anyone raised a stink.

Please PM me about the cartoon you couldn't mention, too (sorry, I know you'll probably get a lot of people asking you).
