Welp, With Kids WB being postponed, I took all morning to endulge Fox Kids new schedual. I taped it, of course. I'm not getting up that early on a Saturday for anything. Anyway..here's my overall review..

Transformers: Uhmm, yes, this has been on for a week now. And yes, I am a "rabid" trans-geek. But, this show is hard to watch. So much talking, so cheezy, no personality at all. Right now, I'm only in for the toys! Ultra Magnus here I come!

Power Rangers Time Force: This series is sooo much better than any other PR series. I like it a lot. It's just, enjoyable.

Digimon: I love it. This is probably the #1 show on my "to watch" list right now. The characters & story line are just so interesting. I like Rika's(SP?) digimon a lot. That fox looking one? Dude, I'm so gona buy the toys of her.

Medabots: I ended up waking up around when it was ending. I haven't watched a full episode, but I'm not really interested in the show. I like the animation, sorta..but..I don't think I'll ever get around to watching it much.

Moolah Beach: Absolute, 100% crap. Big Brother was the only series I really kinda liked..a little. So, This "Survivor for kids" can go sit on it!

The Ripping Friends: I am the Indigestable Wad!! Haha, this show was great. can't believe they got away with some of that material. Just sick! Of course, it is a lot more "kid friendly" than Ren & Stimpy. This really is a sick & twisted show. It's going to be a regular for me.

Alienators Evolution Continues: I think I've professed enough on these boards, about how much I loved the movie & blah blah blah. But, I must tell it from the heart. The show was abit rushed. The animation was to..colorful(overuse of the color purple on the aliens..). And it seems like they expected everyone to already know what happened in the movie. BUT, I will say, THIS EPISODE WAS THE PILOT! I got the lucky chance to see a preview-episode. The series does get really good. But they also mentioned the first REAL episode involved "Scopes"(the villian) evolving to a super-power. Todays episode was just to set up the feel. Anyway, I'll be watching.

Sope, all together, I think this is going to be one of Fox Kids BETTER seasons. Otherwise, I can't wait for Kids WB's new season.

In a nutshell--

Ripping Friends had an interesting visual style, Medabots wasn't as hilarious as the last one, Digimon is still starting up, Moolah Beach sucks, and Evolution was your generic Sat AM action show.

Waitaminute....Survivor....FOR KIDS?!
AHHHH! I lost a lotta respect for Fox Kids now....the Survivor plauge is growing! (puts hand over face)

But I forgot to see The Ripping Friends! Darn! At least it's apparently as good as it was hyped up to be. Maybe next week...

Ah dang. With all the running around I've been doing chasing news, I slept like the dead and completely missed Ripping Friends, which I've been looking forward to for years.

I don't think it's right to have kids compete in something like Survivor. But, that's just my opinion, and i haven't actually seen the show. It just sounds wrong.

and from the sound of it, I'm not missing much. Not interested in anything I've seen mentioned.

I think what Ripping Friends is is an "animation fan's" show. From a visual standpoint, it's very old school--detailed caricature drawings and stylized, but (relatively) smooth animation. Plots look relatively simple (it's up to 3 or 4 episodes on Teletoon, which I requested my friend get me yesterday from his batch of recordings) but at the same time, far out. You don't look for anything deep in this show, and obscure pop culture references are pretty much just...there for the sake of it. The crew is still working out the timing of the gags, which don't always fly. Ren and Stimpy fans will enjoy this, however, but since I wasn't a Ren and Stimpy fan, I'm looking at this show from a fresher standpoint.

That said, I'd watch this show just for its visual style, but not the same way I'd watch episodes of King of the Hill or other Sat AM shows. I'm always afraid for shows done in an old-school format, because they usually don't have enough material for 20 minutes.

Still, I am by no means a "true" animation fan. I know there are a lot of "classic animation" fans here, and while I try to keep tabs on classic animation, and I have favourites (Betty Boop fan here) , I am technically not a "true" animation fan.

Thanx to TELETOON, I've seen four or five episodes of THE RIPPING FRIENDS and I find it to be pretty good. It actuall ypushes the boundaries a bit also, given the usual junk we're subjected to on Saturday morning TV. The jokes work and the characters are pretty enjoyable. I can't see FOX keeping this show, though...
