Hey Guys;
I just got my TV card working last weekend. Since I haven't had TV for about a month I was wondering:
Is the new TMNT Series any good?
I grew up watching TMNT and while I don't know if I could watch the old episodes now (due to the maturity) I was wondering how the new series compares with the old and how the new series is on its own.
If anyone could give me some feedback I'd appreciate it!
Sincerely;
Alpha Flight

this'll probably go to the animated forum... but i'd still like to give some insight...
the new TMNT is worth looking at... they're following the original comic storylines, and the show itself seems to be trying to distinguish itself from the original show... (the premiere episode kinda proved this w/ a certain part concerning Raphael, Michelangelo, and the word "cowabunga").
i like it

I like it too. If you liked the Turtles before you'll probably like them now as well. I suggest you check it out ASAP.

I never watched the original as a kid, but I did enjoy watching the premiere episode. Humor, action...all what I had imagined the Turtles would be like. It's worth a look at if you're curious..never hurts to check out something new.

The new series is very much for the original fans who have all grown up now, and want something a little edgier and serious in their cartoons. While I don't want to bash anyone's childhood memories of the Turtles (especially my own!) I will venture to say that this new series is and will be superior to the old one, in terms of animation, story, and action. Heck, I even think the new theme song is just as good as the old one.

it's very good, but the voices are bad.

I still love the original turtles cartoon but this one is very lacking. The plot is moving extremely slow, the writing is horrible, some of the voice action is horrible, and the theme song makes you want to smash the tv in. :(
Oh well. At least the new toys are cool.

This show is proving to be more action oriented than the original show, which relied too much on puns and comedy. (especially the CBS episodes)
Can't wait to see what Casey Jones is like in this show, and the fact they're going to show his face, something they never did in the last series. (Remember the Octopus, INC. episode of the original show? WTF was up with that?)

If you're a Turtles fan, you should love it. It's very much action-oriented, with an ongoing plot, unlike the old series which was very episodic. The new voices are actually pretty good once you see them in the show, and the animation flows very nicely. One of the best new shows this season, and gives He-Man a run for its money!

Yeah, I will admit that during the firts episode I was just WAITING to hear Mikey say "Cowabunga." I think this little scene was eloquently carried out as a way to distinguish itself from the old show. And the action sequences are great. One thing I want to find out is which origin story are they going for with Splinter.
Why's everybody stomping on the voice acting? Do you guys remember how the original guys sounded??? *shudder*

Yeah, the old voices, if used today, would probably be bashed even worse. But that's the saving grace of nostalgia. Sometimes it almost seems like a disease.
It's good and has great potential. Like others have said; if you're a fan of the old series, you should like this one. It has a better balance or realism/plot/action/humor/etc. than the previous series, so it should be right up your alley.

My two cents I prefer this show over the original no soft turtles and terrible jokes. To answer your question StarScream64 there going for the movies Splinter's Origin.

Wow!
Thankx for all of the input guys! From your comments it sounds like the show is more mature. Now I DEFINITELY what to check it out. For me I'll only watch certain cartoons since I'm 22. I can watch JL: TAS or Batman: TAS but I can't stand Superfriends, Dragon Ball Z, or Transformers Armada. I'm not completely against these shows but I like to make sure that I'm watching something that I can justify with my friends. Thankx again for the feedback! It definitely sounds like a chow that I'll enjoy!

Dang, I missed last week's wich introduced April and Baxter. What I saw of it with the first ep, I liked. It seemed more like an anime in its pacing and also more drmatic and action oriented. It just seemed more mature, yet still acessable to kids. I reallyy enjoy this.

They're going with the origin from the comic books, where Splinter was originally a rat and Hamato Yoshi was his owner.

It seems to be great so far. I don't think fans of either the original show or the comic will be dissapointed. The new series wasn't created to outdo the original series... just take the franchise back to it's roots. And it seems to be doing a good job.

It should be rerun this coming Saturday. I think Fox Box is going to be running the previous week's episodes to help keep up.

It's fantastic!
I'm a HUGE turtle fan and I have found nothing that I hate about this show. It has a good mix of action and comedy and isn't chop full of puns (only Mike makes them in this one so far). Very little mention of pizza, and best of all they lift some stuff directly from the comics. A job well done I'd say. It's my reason for waking up before noon on Saturdays.
